Chapter 29

"We need to get her fever down!" A doctor yelled at the nurse. The nurse nodded and scurried off to get the supplies they'd need. The doctor turned back to the black haired girl writhing on the hospital bed. Her face was slick with sweat and her eyes were shut tightly. The girl's name was Miyuki and she's been in the hospital for 2 days. Not once has she woken up from her fever yet. The fever just suddenly sprang up half a day ago; the doctors didn't know what to make of it. What's worse is that the girl seemed to be having nightmares and they couldn't wake her up from them.

~Dream~

Miyuki turned in a circle, her eyes wide in horror. Everywhere around her was fire. She was looking at the village one moment and the next the whole thing was wrecked. Trees were set on fire and chopped in tiny pieces, shops and houses had been reduced to debris and rubble, giant craters littered the floor, blood was splattered everywhere and people were fighting to survive. A huge shadow hovered over the Leaf Shinobi. A tendril of the shadow lashed out and killed a dozen ninja in one swipe. The shadow writhed as it moved. It was unrecognisable. She couldn't tell what it was that was causing this destruction. She gasped as her body lurched forward on its own and suddenly she was standing right in front of the shadow. She gulped as it stopped paying attention to the other ninja and turned toward her. It slowly moved closer, circling her, and then it lunged. She felt strangled as the entity entered her body and controlled it. It was like she was being suffocated by the sheer force of the creature. It used her body to lash out at the ninja with its shadows, only now the shadows looked red, like blood. She wanted to scream when Naruto and all her friends came forward, ready to attack. She wanted to yell at them to stay back, but she couldn't. There was nothing she could do as the creature lashed out with its bloody shadows at her stoney-faced comrades. The scene changed and this time she was back in control of her body. She was staring at all the bodies lying at her feet. All her comrades' bodies.

My body lurched as I sat up, shivering. I wrapped my arms around myself and curled into a ball. Why did I get these nightmares? What made me have them? I wasn't afraid of hurting my friends because I wasn't strong enough to do that. But these nightmares were scaring me. 'Don't kid yourself, silly girl.' My head snapped up and I looked around. There was no one in the hospital room with me, but I called out nonetheless. "Is anyone there?" No sound came from the room except for my hollow echo. "Hello?" Nothing. I sighed and shook my head, running my hand over my face. I was beginning to get delusional because of my lack of sleep, it seems. Of course there's no one here. Stupid girl. I scolded myself. I stared out of the open window, thinking about the past few fights I had been in. Every time the fight ended I either passed out because of massive overuse of chakra or bloodloss. I had to be more careful. I looked down at myself. My left knee was in a brace, my arms were wrapped in bandages and so was the rest of my upper body. The door slid open and I looked up to see Kiba and Shikamaru, along with Hisoka and Tsubaki enter the room. Hisoka looked at me and his jaw practically hung on the floor. "You're awake!" He exclaimed and pushed through the others to get to me.

I raised an eyebrow and folded my arms. "Of course. Why wouldn't I be?"

This time it was Kiba who stepped forward. I hid the scowl that wanted to slip out. I was going to be angry at him until he apologized, but he had come to visit me so it was hard to be angry at him. He still cared, after all. "We were worried about you, Miyuki. You've been unconscious for 2 days."

This was unexpected. My eyebrows were raised in surprise. Two days? I shrugged it off. "I did lose a lot of blood, so it makes sense that my body needed the rest, yeah?"
