Chapter 8

I yawned again. I was currently sitting high in a tree, hidden from view, on the training grounds. It wasn't high enough to scare me though. I woke up really early this morning and couldn't go back to sleep so I ended up packing some lunch. I also had an apple and some grapes for breakfast. I'd also gone to my new apartment and took all my things to it. The apartment had all the necessary furniture, but it was also a bit bare. I figured I could change it up once I was fully settled. After that I ended up coming here too early, wandering around for a bit. My lunch was inside my backpack and I had to hide it. I thought the best place to hide it was in plain sight, so I dug a hole near the tree I was currently sitting on. I put my backpack in it and put some grass and a tiny bush on the hole to hide it from sight. When I finished with that I walked toward the K.I.A stone. I had been curious to see if I would recognise any of the names on it. I had stopped in my tracks when I spotted a familiar Jounin standing in front of it again. I lazily walked toward him and came to a stop next to him. "So this is where you're always at when you're late." I stated. I saw him turn to me as I scanned my eyes over the names on the stone. "It's serene here, isn't it? The perfect place for a stone like this one." A calm, soft smile graced my lips. "You know, if you're going to be late all the time you could always just tell the truth. We'd all understand." I stated, still smiling. My eyes moved over the names. I didn't really recognise any names except for the Fourth Hokage's. Minato Namikaze.

Kakashi never answered, only kept staring at the stone, so I turned to leave, but I stopped. "See ya later, sensei."

I put a grape in my mouth and chewed, thinking of the events that had taken place. I wonder why he never answered. Maybe my presence there surprised him, or he just wanted to listen to what I wanted to say. Maybe he didn't want to talk at the time.

I sat up straight as I stretched, but then I leaned back against the tree again. I was finally starting to wake up properly. I glanced at my team as they stood and vented about the fact that our dear sensei wasn't here yet. I heard my name leave Sakura's lips as she vented as well and I wanted to laugh. They got here 2 hours after I did and they thought I was late. Those numbskulls.

I chuckled and popped the last grape in my mouth. I smiled and licked my lips. I wonder how this'll work. I'm just as new at this as they were, with the exception that I'm willing to use teamwork if needed. None of them liked the idea of using teamwork.

Kakashi suddenly appeared. "You're late!" Naruto and Sakura both yelled, pointing angry fingers at him.

"Sorry a black cat crossed my path so I had to take the long way around" He said, sheepishly rubbing the back of his neck.

"Liar." Naruto grumbled.

Kakashi lifted his eyebrow. "Well," he cleared his throat. "Let's get started." He walked over to the post and put down a clock. "Here we go. It's set for noon."

"Wait, sensei, we can't start yet. Miyuki-san isn't here yet." Sakura said almost apologetically.

Kakashi looked amused. "She's been here a lot longer than any of you have been. She just hasn't shown herself yet. C'mon out, Miyuki."

I shrugged. I would've liked to stay up here a bit longer, but it wasn't up to me. I swung myself off of the branch and fell down. I landed softly with bent knees. I stood up, wiping the invisible dust off of me and grabbed my apple. I took a bite out of it and I smiled at my surprised comrades. "Don't be so surprised." I took another bite out of my apple, but then it disappeared out of my hand and I sighed. I turned my head toward Kakashi. "Really?" I counted to three and jumped for my apple.

"Eating was against the rules." He said, holding the apple up high.

"No it wasn't. You said if we ate, we'd puke and I just ain't scared of puking like them." I whined, stretching to get to the apple.
