"are you ready?" my mum asked, sitting beside me in the hospital bed i'd had to get in after changing into the ugly gown.
the surgery that could quite literally change the rest of my life was supposed to officially start in about half an hour, and my once calm persona was quickly changing and turning into a scared and worried one.
i quickly shook my head, fighting back tears.
