It had been 3 days since spongebob spoke to squidward, and he was already depressed. He was so upset, he needed to tell the police the truth... but he couldn't. He just, couldn't.
Squidwards POV:
Oh my god... I fell like shit. I miss him. I miss him like crazy... and I still love him. So much. But I know he will never tell the truth. I'm gonna have to get out of here in my own...

Spongebobs POV:
I think I may have to give up on Squidward... I love him... but... I don't even know any more...
He sat there and wept. Minutes later there was a knock on the door.
"Go away, I'm trying to cry here." Spongebob shouted.
"Spongebob please, let me in, I'm sorry..."
"Squidward? How did you?..."
"It doesn't matter... but please, I love you..."
Spongebob got up and opened the door. They looked at each other slowly before pressing their lips together.
"Please, forgive me..." Squidward said.
"Of course squiddy." Spongebob smiled. "I love you."
I dunno how he got out of prison he just did haha just wanted to speed that bit along, sorry XD
