Winter sighed as she sent the third voicemail in the last two minutes.
It was the first time she hadn't joined the team on a case since she joined the BAU. She claimed to be meeting up with an old friend, but instead, she was going to find an UnSub by herself.
And how she was regretting it now.
Her captor snatched the phone from her hand and growled.
"Call again."
He dialed and handed it back to Winter. Tears welled up in her eyes as she held the phone to her ear. It rang a couple of times before Spencer Reid actually answered.
"Winter, I can't talk right now — "
"I need you to come home."
Tears were now streaming down her cheeks. She knew he and the team were too busy trying to track the very UnSub that held her hostage.
"What's going on? Are you okay?"
His voice automatically sounded panicked and worried. A sob racked Winter's chest when she realized that she'd probably never see him again..
And it was all her fault.
The man took the phone from her roughly.
"You better hurry up and get here, Spencer Reid. I don't know how long I can control myself."
Winter could hear Spencer shouting through the phone.
"Tick. Tock."
The man laughed and hung up the phone.
Spencer and the team will find me, Winter thought. They'll save me before he gets a hold of them.
For now, though, she had to stay strong. If she shows any pain or fear, that'll only make him stronger.
Show no emotion, she told herself.
Show no fear.
