Chapter ten.

My car drove past the trees, the wind throwing my hair back. I slightly pushed up my sunglasses on the bridge of my nose, enjoying the warms rays of the sun. The radio was playing Skillet’s ‘Monster’. Why yes, I do feel a bit like a monster. I grinned, happily remembering our delightful dinner last night. Afterwards mom actually got ME to fetch the tea. I mean she never does and when I came back, she was actually giving him the ‘the talk’. I cracked up on the spot, almost losing my grip on the tray.

“Tia! Hello? Are you listening?” Nyx grumbled beside me, Hera decided to ditch me early in the morning. No one knows but I’m sure Adrian’s involved. He’s her mate after all. “Um, what did you say?” Ny rolled her eyes, I watch as she threw her hands up in the air.

“I said could we stop by the mall? I need a new pair of sneakers.

“What happened to the old ones? Why didn’t you wear those mum bought you?” I said knowing that mom bout her plenty of clothes, not caring how she hated mom’s taste unlike me who wore anything given.

“Do you really think six inch high heels are considered sneakers?” I smirked, typical of mother. She went all out on Nyx, trying to get Nyx to follow her elegant ways.

“I think they’re pretty and you have to get used to wearing heels soon. I mean you can’t go have interviews wearing sneakers. They have dressing codes.” Nyx had always wanted to be a doctor and she works really hard towards that. She had straight a pluses and not even a smudge of dirt on her record, yet she dresses like a…I don’t know what to call a girl wearing her brother’s hoodie, torn jeans and black worn out sneakers all the time. Constantly tying her hair into a ponytail and her huge glasses. She doesn’t even need glasses, they’re fake.

“I run.” That’s her simple answer; being in the sports and track team isn’t an excuse. I huffed in annoyance. I stopped the car, already in the mall’s parking lot in no time.

“Fine, but be quick. Its okay if I’m late but you’re another story.” I warned, locking the car behind us. She ran into the building while I walked, tagging behind her as she decides between two very similar shoes. Like I said, I wear what mom buys. I’m never one for shopping. As we walk pass the familiar smoothie shop, I smiled fondly. I wonder if the staffs still remember me?

“That’s the one!” I looked to where Nyx pointed and saw the same pair of sneakers as the last one. I have no clue how they differ from each other.

“Grab it, I’ll pay. We’re running out of time.” I ordered, she grabs those sneakers and asked for those in her size. When she got them, she walked towards me with a bounce in her step. I shook my head in amusement.

“Thank you, come again Alpha.” The casher politely smiled, one of the pack members who doesn’t go to school but instead focus entirely on the battlefield and a rare thing to do, mostly men. This surprised me when a female chose this path. Nonetheless I smiled back equally polite and thanked her. We were walking back to the car when Nyx stopped dead in her tracks.

I was about to ask her what's wrong until i see a familiar face, a VERY familiar face. "Ivon." I sighed dreadfully. "Hestia." He tipped his forever stuck on his head--fox baseball cap. He then turned to Nyx and smirked. "Annabel." I muffled my snicker behind a hand at him using her middle name. "Its Nyx!" She growled. Snapping myself out of it, i raised my chin with an attitude. "What do you want Ivon. Your territory is nowhere near here." I crossed my arms.

"Nothing much, i was on my way to Tyler's, merely passing through ladies." I rolled my eyes, my wolf was on edge with another alpha in my territory. "Merely passing by? What's next, pigs fly? I know you Ivon, you seem to forget who knows you so well. Forget it, i don't want to know. Get off my lands Ivon, my warning--as a former friend." I said seriously.
