Damsel- [MARK SLOAN 1]

prologue

Running. That's all I've ever known what to do.

"You get back here, Mia! We are not done until I say we are done, do you understand me?" Ben yells at me while I fight back the urge to breakdown.

"Be strong, Mia, you don't deserve this."  My best friend would whisper in my ear, telling me that I deserved more than what I bargained for. Nobody knew what went on with Ben. The pain, torture and heartbreak was only and ever will be witnessed by me.

"We," I turn around facing him furiously. I walk closer to him, shooting him deadly glares, the look having emotion behind every hurtful act he did upon me. Only if looks could kill, he would've been dead a long time ago.

"Are," I raise my index finger, putting it on his chest, hard. I was furious, done with the way he treated me for the past two years.

"DONE!" I bark at him as he snarls at me. He grabs my wrist and throws my body against his. He pushes me against the wall, making me cry out in pain. He puts a hand over my mouth as I take in the smell of alcohol, making me cringe in absolute disgust.

"Mmmm!" I scream, using all my force to push myself off of him. He shouts as I run across the bedroom, grabbing my suitcase filled with all the items I started to pack months ago. I quickly look at him one last time, watching him grip his fists in anger.

Get the hell out of their, Mia, while you still can.

"Goodbye, Ben." I snarl, building up the courage to quickly run past him, not caring what he says or does anymore. He won't ever get to control my life again.

"This isn't the end, Mia. You'll see me again!" Ben threatens as he watches me run down the street in the pouring rain.

I feel my heart beat rapidly against my chest while I ran, but my mind filled with regret. Was I really going to do this? Did Ben really deserve this?

I shook my head, tears filled in my eyes and fell down my pale white cheeks. All I knew was where ever this road leads me, I hope it's anything better than where I started.
