It absolutely made my day. If anyone else is an artist or does any kind of fan art at all, I'd love to see any Subject A250-related works that you do!

Anyway, I left you on a bit of a cliffhanger, so let's continue, shall we?

Ben smiled the second Trace stepped into the room; that's when she knew that things were going to turn out badly.

"No," he said, shaking his head. He was still smiling as if this were some kind of joke. "No. We're not taking them."

The boss turned to Ben, trying to work out his motives. It didn't take him long to figure it out.

"You know her," he stated, shooting Trace a sideways glance.

Ben nodded once, slowly. He said nothing.

"Maybe it's best we have this discussion in private then," suggested the boss. He was frowning, and Trace believed that if she got a word in she might still have a chance.

"Wait," she said, stepping forward. "I know Ben; there's no hiding that. But I can be an asset. I'm not the person I once was."

Ben snorted. "She's only saying that because she doesn't want to believe the truth; that she's a traitor. We can't trust her."

"What are you talking about, Dagger?" Lightning asked, deciding to step in.

Now it was Trace's turn to snort. Dagger? That was hardly an appropriate nickname.

She stopped laughing as she saw Ben's fingers wrap around a sharp dagger, tucked into his belt.

"Something funny?" he asked, tightening his grip on the weapon. Trace gulped and shook her head. "Good," he continued, before explaining the situation to Lightning and the others. "This girl was with me at WICKED. She came in later. Turned up on her own accord, storming the place with one of her friends..."

This was the first Trace had actually heard of how she'd arrived at WICKED. She had an inkling, but the Changing didn't provide her with the specifics. All she had was a few scattered memories. She certainly didn't know she hadn't been alone; nothing in her memories indicated that she'd arrived with someone else.

"...she intended on rescuing us all," Ben said. "But the second things turned pear-shaped, she joined them. Just like that," he indicated with a snap of his fingers. "She turned on us all. She can't be trusted."
