When everyone woke up the next morning it was off to another sound check, because they wanted to make sure everything was still all set. Tonight is Scotty’s show in Oklahoma and I am still performing the harmony with him at the last song. Apparently Travis, Scotty’s manager, wants to change the set list and make it so “I Don’t Wanna Be Your Friend,” is the last song tonight. Luckily I love that song, but it literally describes Scotty and I right about now. Basically the second sound check is to make sure I know the words. Scotty and I practiced twice in a row and I was all set with it. Everyone was surprised on how easy I made it seem.
By this time it was around noon and I got a text from Hunter saying that they are pulling off the highway and their driver said we’d see them in less than 15 minutes. I let Scotty know and he decided it would be funny to lay under the bus wheels and act dead, once they shut the bus off and parked it. I laughed thinking it’s a funny idea and we both agreed to run and hide on the opposite side of Scotty’s bus waiting for Hunter to arrive.
Scotty: “I really hope this works.”
Me: “Yeah and I hope nothing goes wrong.”
Scotty: “That’s why I brought you with me, if the reverse lights go back on you yell for me to get up, silly.”
Me: “Right.” I really honestly am nervous about this whole prank idea; hopefully nothing ends up going wrong.
Just then Hunter’s bus arrived and the driver began the process of turning around and back into the huge garage. Only taking about two tries the bus shut off and Scotty went into place and lay behind the back wheels of the bus, and I stood out of sight biting my fingernails. The first thing everyone did when they got off the bus was unload the lower storage bins. One of Hunter’s band players was the first one to see Scotty and I ducked into the shadows so I wouldn’t be spotted.
Guitarist: “Shit what happened to Scotty?”
I heard running footsteps from many people and I peeked around the back of Scotty’s bus to see what was going to happen next. “Well what are y’all waiting for get him out of there!?” Someone said. Just as two people went to pull Scotty out from underneath the bus all he did was go “BOO!” They all jumped even the people that weren’t trying to free him.
Scotty: “HAHA I got all of y’all!”
Hunter: “Okay that was a good one but, not nice at all.”
Scotty: “It’s alright Sara was here to make sure the reverse lights didn’t go on and I didn’t actually have a chance to be hit.”
I came out from around the other side of Scotty’s bus and Hunter gave me a huge hug. He whispered in my ear that he missed me and everything, and then we all decided to go find something fun to do.
Since it’s still March and a very cold winter in Oklahoma the boys and I all agreed to go on skiing trip. Unfortunately the only ski resorts that the locals said were worth visiting are 10-12 hours away and that won’t work because Scotty’s show starts at 7 and he has meet and greets to do from 5:30-6:30. We settled on going ice skating and found a local arena that offered skating to the public.
Once there we all picked out hockey skates and laced up and got to the door of the ice rink.
Me: “I guess its ladies first right?”
Hunter: “Heck yeah I wanna watch this.”
Scotty: “I wanna stand here and watch what it’s like before I step out there.”
What they don’t know is that when I was younger I used to go ice skating all the time and ice skating is similar to riding a bike, once you do it, you can’t forget how to do it. I stepped out onto the ice and skated right to the center, did a spin, the best I could with hockey skates, and skated right back to the boys.
Me: “See easy, peasy.”
Scotty: “Alright here goes nothing.”
He stepped out onto the ice and immediately fell and landed flat on his bum and just sat there stunned.
“Well, um maybe it’s not that easy.”
Hunter just stood on the side lines laughing at Scotty.
Me: “What are you laughing at, it’s your turn.”
He stopped laughing and put a foot out onto the ice surveying the situation.
Hunter: “I think I’d rather chicken out on this one.”
Me: “Com’on Scotty already fell and at least gave an effort, just try it.”
He stepped out on the ice and was able to just stand still not daring to move another muscle.
Hunter: “Ha it’s not that bad.”
Scotty: “Ha it’s not that bad….” He said in a mocking tone while still sitting on the ice the same way he landed.
Me: “Okay now dig your toe into the ice and push off gliding on your other skate.” He did just that and was showing off a little bit. “You might want to slow down!”
Hunter: “HOW?!?”
It was too late for me to explain and he fell forward and went sliding across the rink on his stomach.
Me: “For the record you just drag your toe behind you, to slow down.”
Hunter: “Oh. Now how do I get up?”
Scotty: “Yeah how do we get up?”
I demonstrated this time instead of just talking. I knelt down on both knees dug my toes in squatted and then stood up.
Me: “Just like that.”
Before I knew it they were both on their feet and Hunter was skating back over to Scotty and me. He dragged a toe behind him and stopped like a pro. By the time Scotty and Hunter were getting used to skating around it was 5pm and time to head out. Meet and greets for Scotty start in half an hour!
I drove the truck that the venue lent us back to the stage because the boys were saying they are tired and sore. We all piled into the black 2014 Chevy crew cab pickup. Due to both of them being taller than me they both got into the truck without any problem. Me on the other hand, I opened the door, grabbed the steering wheel, pulled myself onto the side step and jumped in from there.
Scotty: “Short girl probs.”
Hunter and I both laughed at his joke.
Me: “Yeah no kidding.” I sighed because it clearly is that difficult to jump up there.
We made it back to the venue just in time for Scotty to take off running and make it back before Jerry, his manager, could get any angrier.

A.N. So this chapter was created while I was sitting in a ski lodge. Due to a recent skiing accident I had about a month ago I didn't do a lot of skiing tonight and sat in the lodge creating this one for y'all. I really wanted for them to go skiing, but since the setting is in Oklahoma, right now, I did a search seeing that the closest ski resort to there is 12 hours away, so i settled with writing about ice skating,
