Hayden's POV

I looked around at the people on the plane. I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair. I don't belong on this plane. I belong back in San Antonio, where Nick and all the others were. I had to be the one who failed didn't I?

I looked down at my arm frustratedly. Why couldn't I just finish? Why do I always have to mess shit up? If I wouldn't have rushed through it all, I wouldn't have hurt myself.

I had been one of the best recruits. I always finished first and went back to help the others. Every time. I pushed myself to be the best, and I fell.

I fell and fractured my arm. Wow Hayden, good job.

I knew Dad would be angry. He'd be pissed that I messed up such a good opportunity to make something out of myself.

I mean, Blair said I had another chance, but I'm going to fuck that up too.

I just kept disappointing everyone. I was supposed to be proving that I could finally be responsible, that I had finally grown up. That I could marry early and begin taking care of Blair.

But I couldn't.

I wiped my eyes and stared out of the window.

I just want to go home and cuddle with my girl right now. Hopefully I don't want to go out anywhere. I don't even feel like talking to anyone. Especially not Dad.

My plane landed and I looked down at my finger. I smiled down at it. I got my bag from overhead and began heading towards the front. I kept my head down, feeling sad and ashamed. But I knew I'd have to fake happy as soon as I stepped into the airport.

As soon as I exited the terminal gates, I was attacked in a hug. The red hair and the perfume made me realize who it was. I thought I'd have to fake happy, but I couldn't help the huge smile that came onto my face. I put my head in her neck.

"Oh B, I missed you so much." I muttered.

"I missed you too Hayd. I know you aren't in the best mood right now and we'll cuddle as soon as we're home." See what I meant? I pulled back and kissed her.

"Thank you." I whispered to her. Between Lori and Mom, I didn't know who was more happy to see me, and worried at the same time. I'm glad it had only been Lori, Mom, and Blair to get me. I have a feeling it was Blair's idea.

"Your arm, oh my baby!" Lori cried.

"I'm so happy you're back, Momma's gonna good take care of that." I laughed and hugged them one at a time.

I followed them to the car, looking around. "Your father and Payton are outside in the truck waiting for us." Mom brought up. I nodded. Jace had gone back to his home, with his fiancé and soon to be kid.

I couldn't help but drift into my thoughts. I wondered what Dad would say. Maybe he'd already gotten all of his anger out.

I felt Blair grab onto my hand. I looked at her and kissed her hand. She smiled sweetly at me.

"Don't think too much Hayd. Everything's gonna be alright." She told me, squeezing my hand.

"Why'd he even come?"
