when you would finally arrive
home,
you were angry.
you were a tsunami.
you crashed through the rooms
with alcohol on your breath,
shattering everything you touched,
including me.
you looked at me with such
a pain in your eyes,
that i couldn't help but to
reach out and try
to soften you the way
i used to be able to.
though now, all that overcame
you was a sharpness that sliced through
me in slow motion.
