JOINING THE PINHEADS again as if the disaster that had occured never happened felt surreal to Marty as he entered the studio building. Amanda had joined alongside him given the last bit of break she had was enough for a trip with the friends again. This being easy to convince her to come along as well knowing everyone was planning to be in the city this time around.
"Jennifer!" She yelled happily upon seeing the brunette and let go of Marty to run into her arms.
Unsurprised that given the circumstances Amanda would rush to her, he looked on as the friends joined together for what felt like ages of separation. In this timeline, Amanda had remained in close contact with the group of high school friends on top of also joining them on occasion when the band was back recording in the studio. Between the tours and the press that time was limited but she had managed to make it work seeing how important it was that she kept them in her life.
"Yeah, I missed you too, Amy," Jennifer responded back, letting go of her to nudge Marty on the side, "You're alright too, McFly."
"Thanks Jen."
The rest of the band came out to greet the couple's arrival with no one being the more center of attention than the blonde. Bobby rushed over to greet her before noticing Marty's protective gaze over her. Straightening up as a jest, he looked to him first. "Permission to hug sir?"
Marty couldn't help to laugh at the joke and nodded. "Permission granted."
At that he took the blonde up in a tight embrace sending her laughing as a result. "I just called you a couple of days ago?"
"These boys are driving me insane," He explained dramatically before placing her down. Joining her partner's side she smiled over his easy nature, kissing his cheek as a reward which Marty took happily. The others gave their hello's after making up the entirety of the group.
At this point the lobby of the studio felt crowded with the group's rambunctious energy, creating a louder atmosphere than what there already was. The receptionists only smiled over their behavior as they found it difficult to get themselves to work with the distractions presented to them. Paul was the first to get the group's attention, the others looking to him as he whistled for them to quiet down. "We could at least practice the song? Make Harry think we've actually done something today."
The boys agreed to this, directing the girls up to the studio booth where the manager in question felt overwhelmed by their presence. "Boys, we have things to do today. This isn't a party."
"It could be a party," Lee suggested for him to shoot a look over this. He raised his hands defensively as the boys went into the booth to pick up their instruments.
Mickey crossed her arms looking between Amanda and Marty suspiciously which the blonde picked up on once the group had died down in numbers. "Yes?"
"Something's different, what happened?" Her friend asked, mainly on a hunch based on their behaviors when arriving.
Smiling to herself, she shrugged her shoulders as she looked to Marty in the booth. "It's too sappy to talk about," was all Amy said as her boyfriend gave her a toothy grin at the head of the group. She was always aware of Marty's dedication to them being together but didn't understand the lengths he would go. From what Marty talked about it had felt like an exaggeration, even she herself doubted it even with all the obstacles they'd overcome.
Now they were back to how things were except Marty had all the understanding of what it took to get there. That they didn't have to lose time together, they could only gain it. Stella had sighed in content over Amy's comment being the romantic she was for the girls to look over to her. "The two of you are always so sweet on each other."
This time Amanda let herself lean into it, warming up to the feeling as well. "Yeah, we are." With everything that happened she didn't mind getting to be soft over the idea of them together. She allowed herself the feeling just this once given the circumstances and settled herself into the viewing area with those mixing the band's sound.
The room was enough for the four girls watching their friends along with their manager and those producing at the sound booth. Coming up to the microphone, Marty grinned over to his partner watching on the other side. "One take and we're done Harry, we've got plans."
The manager let out a deep breath as the girls held their own laughter behind him. "You're gonna have to work longer than that boys but alright." Ignoring the request Marty started on the song letting out a call before starting on his guitar riff. Focusing on the music the band was able to stray from their antics just long enough to get through the three minute song; that was the extent of what their focus could handle anyways.
"Thought that I would forget you?
Heaven knows that's not my style.
And that I would let you...
Walk away without at least goodbye."Nodding their heads along to the beat of the track, Jennifer smiled over to Amy content as she continued to watch them. Nudging her in order to get her attention she eyed her friend curiously. "What happened back home then?"
"Just caught up. Remembered the good old days."
Mickey laughed at her comment and looked over to the two of them amused. "I don't think those were the good old days. We're in the middle of our good old days."
Amanda waved a finger to her for her to smile at the jest. "Then I was just mucking around Hill Valley. There's nothing else to it."
Leaning her head over next, Stella pointed over to the boys recording in the booth unconvinced. With Marty and Amanda there was not only their romantic air but an influx of songs from the rockstar that idolized her. "Gave Marty enough song inspiration with your mucking around."
She dismissed this, knowing her boyfriend well enough that those songs would've come regardless. "He's always been sweet on me, I can't control him even if I tried."
"Yeah you could," Mickey told her.
"...Yeah, I could." Returning their attention back to the boys finishing off the recording, the last of the track was coming to a close from the members of the Pinheads.
"I don't hear a symphony
all I hear is the beating of...
what I'm trying to say is you're my only."Amanda casted up her eyes to Marty giving her a wide-grin from the microphone as the others awaited a response from those in the booth. Giving a thumbs up, he let his guitar hang loose around him as Harry heaved a deep breath over their casual behavior. "We good to go now?" The group watched the manager give a small nod that would've been missed if not for their close eye on his behavior for them to roar in approval over this.
