Sam's POV"I know it took courage to be outside with us today, to stand together now in the face of grave danger and grave tragedy." Jaha spoke to the crowd who had gathered outside Arkadia.
We all came to pay our respects to those who didn't make it. My blood was able to save a few people, but they needed so much and I got so weak that we couldn't save them all; and there was no way I would have Athena donate her blood. I watched the bodies being moved around while I rocked Athena back and forth in my arms. Bellamy stood a few feet behind me. We have never been the same since he got back. He still blames himself for Mark and Peter's death because he wasn't able to get to them in time. I wish he didn't, but I can understand where he's coming from. I still blame myself for not being able to save everyone.
"On the Ark, rain like this was only a dream." Jaha continued. "Now it's a nightmare, because we know it could turn at any second and kill us, just like it did to 18 of our brothers and sisters who we honor today. Among them, Erin, Samuel, and Louis. May we meet again."
"May we meet again." The crowd repeated with gloom. Jaha brought the torch down to the wood the bodies were piled on and lit it, burning the bodies.
As Skaikru prepared to burn the next group of bodies, Niylah began to sprinkle some purple stuff on the bodies while saying a little prayer. "From the Earth, we will grow. From the ashes, we will rise."
My eyebrows furrowed in confusion at the familiar words. 'From the ashes, we will rise.' That was a saying on the Ark, something Jaha and my dad use to tell me about.
"Niylah?" I questioned, standing beside her. He hummed in response and turned to me. "'From the ashes, we will rise' where does that come from?"
"Come from?" Niylah slowly questioned before she fully understood. "You'd have to ask a fleimkepa. All I know is it's what we say to ready our dead for the fire."
I turned to Jaha, who had been listening the whole time. Without saying a word, Jaha nodded as if he knew what I was thinking and went to find my dad. I followed shortly behind.

Jaha placed the large, circular medal on the table. Along the side of it was the words 'from the ashes we will rise.'
"It's not a coincidence, Marcus." Jaha said, as my dad examined it. "I need to speak with the flamekeeper."
My dad sucked in a long breath before speaking. "You already found the second dawn bunker. It was.."
"The wrong bunker." Jaha finished. "Cadogan said only those who reached level 12 would be saved." Jaha flipped the coin over and pointed to it. "This is Level 11. What I found was a decoy built to keep the level 12 bunker from being overrun."
"How could you possibly know that?"
"Because that's what he would do." I spoke for him. Jaha nodded, only proving my point more.
"And you think that Indra's daughter knows where the real bunker is?"
"I think there's a reason 'from the ashes we will rise' became a grounder prayer." Jaha corrected. "Just like I think there was a reason that a corporate logo became their sacred symbol."
"The infinity sign." My dad said before thinking for a moment. "I can reach out to Indra. She might know where Gaia is."
That was all Jaha needed to stand up and prepare to walk out the door. "I'll assemble a team."
"Thelonious," my dad stood up to chase after him. "wait. Polis is a war zone. We won't be welcome there."
"So we travel light. For this, we'll need thinkers, not fighters."
I nodded, knowing exactly who he was thinking of. "Monty."
