Jax was silent as he sat beside me in the vehicle. He hadn't said a word since I confessed my love for him. I couldn't help, but wonder what he was feeling. I mean hours before at the funeral he had basically confessed the same thing. In Jax's own words he had said that my father told him he was 'a goner'.

I glanced over at him. He seemed to be relaxed not in the slightest agitated. This is good for us. At least he wasn't angry. At least Jax wasn't pushing me away. He is giving  me the silent treatment.

The car finally arrived to the hotel Rachel was staying at so I called her and told her to come down. While we waited I decided to take the last few minutes alone with Jax and let him know how I felt.

"Jax," I called to him.

"Yes, Alana."

I turned to him to face him. His eyes were still closed and his head leaning on the back of the seat. "Did I displease you, sexually, I mean?"

Jax's eyes popped open and he turned to me. "No."

I took a deep breath very satisfied with myself. "Then don't be mad about what I said. I am not looking for a commitment from you. I wanted you to-"

Jax cut me off. "Alana, I just followed you to New York."

Oh my, Jax just said those words. Uh, I hated to be childish, but by golly I wanted him to spell it out for me. I opened my mouth to pry even more information when my door came open and Rachel slid in next to me.

"Okay, so I had a perverted bellhop."

I laughed. I turned to Rachel and began a conversation with her. Jax ignored us as he relaxed. While the car drove on. I casually slipped my hand between his arm and chest and curled closer to him. Jax did not move away.

The car drove us to the airport so we could get back on Jax's private plane and go back to the real world. A new world, one where I no longer have parents. I still say that the feeling hasn't completely hit me yet.

I shook the thought off as the car stopped. I reluctantly released Jax and followed Rachel out of the car. The driver grabbed our bags for us so we headed up the stairs.

"What was that," she leaned back and asked.

I blushed. "He knows. I told him I love him."

Rachel gasped when we stepped inside the plane. "You didn't tell me, when was this?"

"A couple hours ago when we were doing what we were doing and it came out. I love him. I love Jax."

She squealed and held my hands. We were suddenly school girls once again. Jax came in and looked at the two of us strangely. Realization seemed to dawn on his face. He slightly nodded and then headed to his seat and sat down. Rachel and I followed his lead.

After a couple minutes, we were confused. Normally, the pilot would come out and tell us that we didn't have long to go. He hasn't come out yet.

I massaged my neck while Jax went to go see why the plane hadn't taken off.

"I can't sir," I heard the pilot reply.

I glanced at Rachel who didn't seem all that worried about it.

"What do you mean," Jax asked.

"There are police on the way. They say we can't leave. They're looking for someone for questioning, an Alana Torrey."

Jax and I connected eyes. The police don't stop planes from taking off for innocent questioning. I was in trouble, for what, I didn't know.

A few seconds seemed to pass by and sirens could be heard. I stood up along with Rachel and Jax and the three of us stood outside of the plane and walked down the stairs.

Several cop cars, at least six, came flying in and swerved. The police filed out of them quickly. One in a suit in particular called for me.

"I'm her," I said.

Jax stepped in front of me, keeping an arm in front of my chest. "What is this about?"

The suit ignored him. "We need all your hands up."

What? Jax ignored him. "Tell us what this is about first."

They drew their weapons on us. Rachel screamed and the both of us threw our hands in the air. "Jax," I called. He clenched his jaw and put his hands up.

"Alana Torrey, step forward." I ignored the pain in my chest and stepped forward like I was told. As soon as I were a few feet in front of Jax, a uniformed officer grabbed me and roughly shoved me into a cop car.

"Hey," Jax yelled.

"Stay still, Mr. Carruthers." The suit told him as he walked over to me. He pulled my arms behind my back. "Alana Torrey, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in the court of law. You have the right to an attorney, if you cannot afford one, one will be appointed to you. Do you understand these rights that I have presented to you?"

"What is she being arrested for?" Jax argued.

My eyes were on the suit. I was in a zone completely fixated on a button on his shirt. This was not happening. I was not being arrested.

"For killing her parents," the suit finally replied to Jax.

"That's bullshit," Jax argued.

"Freeze," the officers yelled. Jax must've stepped forward.

"Do you understand," the suit asked.

I nodded and risked a glance at Jax and Rachel. Tears were in my eyes clouding my vision. I saw a crimson faced Jax just begging to pick a fight with gun wielding police officers. Rachel had her hands straight up in the air with wide eyes darting between Jax and I.

"Don't say a word to them Alana," Jax ordered. "Not a word. I'm getting my lawyer, okay."

I nodded again as the suit opened the door. I leaned back a bit as my heart threatened to rip out of my chest. The silent tears I'd been holding poured out into a loud sob. "No, please, Jax."

"I'm coming, Alana."

The suit pushed me into the back of the police car and shut the door. A uniformed officer got in the driver seat and he took off while Jax and Rachel stayed there for questioning.

I was driven straight to the police station for booking. They tried to ask a few questions, but I was too inconsolable and Jax told me to be quiet. Afterward, I had my very own mug shot taken. A disgusting picture, I'd be okay with never seeing. I could've done without stripping in front of female guards and having them touch me in places to make sure that I wasn't hiding drugs or anything. Then I was given an orange jumpsuit and a cell. Thankfully, they kept me away from everyone else.

I lied down on the bed and I cried. I didn't understand why they would think that I killed my parents. I would never harm my parents, not ever.

Preview of the next chapter:

The good: I was released on a million dollar bail.

The bad: I am confined to Jax's house by an ankle bracelet and I cannot leave town before the trial which won't start for another month despite the rise in media presence outside Jax's house.

The ugly: I believe my brother and Jax's brother, Pax, set me up for murder.

I turned to Jax. "I understand how Pax benefits, but not Dillon."

"Think about it," Jax said, "With you out of the way and your funds frozen, Dillon could easily come forward and say that you've lost your mine. He gets enlisted as your loving protector and he has all your funds. He gets everything he wanted."

I put my head in my hands. "How are we going to stop them? The prosecutor says they have a witness claiming I paid them to kill my parents."
