These are some of the book that have had a huge impact on my writing. I thought I would share them with you because maybe they could help you too! (Also I've read these books multiple times because I learn by watching what other people do and adapting that to me) I completely love these book!

The Name of The Wind by Patrick Rothfuss.

To say I am in love with this book would be putting it lightly. ❤️🙈The way he writes is like poetry. 📝 He pulls you into this enchanting story and never lets go of you. The beauty in everything he writes is astounding. I'm in complete awe of his work. 😱

From this I learned the beauty of description. Of really taking your time to describe something just right. Now he describes every single detail (and you're totally fine with it because it's beautiful) but for YA you don't actually need that much detail. But for my other genre novels I will tap into this and use it.

It's truly my favorite book and I don't think that will ever change.

Fire by Kristin Cashore 🔥

This is the second book in the Graceling series, but it is a stand alone. I absolutely love this book!! ❤️🙈 (BRIGAN!) I think I've read it eight times so far. Her style of writing is so far from anything I've ever read. What I truly love about her book is the characters. They are complex, real characters that you grow to love and relate too. Also the way she has setups and pay offs is just amazing. An amazing writer that I look up to! 😍🤓

Cinder by Marissa Meyer

I have read this book...nine time? I've lost count. I actually own a physical copy of this book. The whole thing is marked with pencil where I've underlined words or phrases 🤓. She has one of the best balances of dialogue and description that I have come across.

Her style of writing is what I strive for. You are always aware of what the characters are doing while talking but her descriptions never get bogged done. Its amazing how she writes. I recommend reading this and studying her craft. 👌🏼👍🏽

The Book Thief by Makus Zurak
😍😢😭🙈🤓❤️👏🏼👌🏼😱😄

If you have read any of my books you know I have an unhealthy love with personification. (😁😁) It is my go to thing. I can't tell you how many things the sun ☀️ has done in my books, but it's a lot. Reading this book made me realize that personification is okay to do, I shouldn't shy away from it! ☺️

I was worried I did it too much but after reading this book I gave myself the liberty to do it more often. Which I have! (Haha did you read that last chapter of Mr. Write, I might have gotten drunk on personification 😁😉.) Beyond helping me realize that, it is just an incredible book. One I know I will read over and over again.

The Betsy, Tacy Series by Maude Hart Lovelace ❤️❤️❤️

If there is one series I believe you should read it's this one. I have read this series countless times and I know I will read it countless more. I grew up on these books (Specifically the high school years and on) They are good, beautifully written books about a girl finding out who she is. No matter what age I read these books I can always relate.

That is a powerful thing to be able to do as a writer, have a book stand the test of time by making it relatable no matter what age you are. Even my brother has read these books and loved them. They are amazing books!

Seven Daughter and Seven Sons by Barbara Cohen and Bahija Lovejoy

Where do I even start with this book?!😭❤️😍🙈👏🏼 It's beyond one of my favorite books. The love story is one of the best I have ever read. There is a magic 💫to this book that I can't even describe. One day I read it and finished only to pick it up the next day and start all over again. That is how great this book is, you can't get enough. You want to read it over and over again, soaking it all up. Gosh I need to go read this book again! 😂

****************

There you have it! Some of my top books! There are a million more such as East of Eden by John Steinbeck, The Hunger Games by Suzanna Collins, The Artemis Fowl ❤️ Series by Eoin Colfer, Ender's Game 😱👏🏼by Orson Scott Card, Great Expectation 😳and A Tale of Two Cities 😭 by Charles Dickens, To Kill a Mocking Bird 😶💥by Harper Lee...the list goes on and on.

The point is find good books! Inhale literature that makes you want to read it over and over again. Makes you want to study how the author created this amazing world! Never stop reading, because that is the key to becoming a good writer, is reading good books! You learn every time you read!
