Anna and I were falling back on our painting for art that we are working on together it’s one big painting with a message well showing people and what the message is, the teacher let us stay behind after school to finish it off our assessment I was walking on one side of the painting and Anna was doing the other side of the painting working our way towards the middle, I haven’t really had the chance to ask her out yet I still haven’t decided yet actually Anna spoke up breaking the silence between us and said
“You’re mum seems nice”
“Thanks, my mum thinks your nice as well” Anna smiled again but it went silent again so I looked around the room seeing a speaker where I can connect my phone, I walked over and plugged my phone in and started playing a song I danced over to the painting grabbing my paint brush and I was dancing I looked at Anna and she was laughing at me
“What are you doing”?
“What does it look like I’m doing, I’m dancing”
“You’re a horrible dancing”
“Dance with me” I said dancing over to her doing the shimmy she couldn’t help but laugh
“Ashton I don’t dance I’m a terrible dancer, just get back to work” she turned around continuing to paint I look to the side seeing the paints so I dipped my finger into the red paint and I stood behind Anna
“Hey Anna, turn around for a sec”
“Ashton for the last time I’m not” when she turned around mid-sentence I bopped her on the nose, she now had red paint on her cute little nose “You did not just”
“Oh but I did” Anna dipped her finger in the green paint and looked back up at me and I said “What you going to do with that”?
“Payback” she ran up to me putting paint on my nose she smiled and said “Now were even” she was about to walk away but I grabbed my paint brush and painted her arm blue I smiled knowing what she was going to say so I said
“Oh yes I did just do that” Anna picked up her paintbrush and we started chasing each other around the room it started a big paint fight and it ended with us both covered in paint and my arms wrapped around her waist
“Ashton, let me go”
“Wait” I got her on her nose again and she smiled again and her nose twitched a bit it was actually cute.
“So listen I was wondering we could make up for last Friday night since the night wasn’t so great with me walking off”
“I thought we had a pretty great night at your house” I said
“Anyway maybe we could give it a try again on Friday night”
“Are you asking me out”? I said pulling away from her I was happy that she was the one doing that or else I wouldn’t have the balls to do it
“No just as friends and that’s it, it’s not a date”
“Alright I’m in” Anna smiled at me and we continued doing our painting at one point a song called Check Yes Juliet came on and I heard Anna singing along to it she seemed happy singing that song like it brought back memories.
We stopped outside of Anna’s house and I said
“So I guess I’ll see you tomorrow at school”
“See you around Irwin” she said smiling at me then walking off into her house, I continued walking home kicking a rock across pathway until I reached home I bumped into the lady not seeing her she was carrying a box I looked up and I said
“I’m so sorry”
“That’s okay son” she continued walking off and I walked a few more blocks and finally arrived home. I opened the door smelling mums pasta I walked into the kitchen and sat on the stool just looking at mum, she put a hand on her hip and said
“Alright, spill the beans”
“What”?
“Ashton this girl has you blushing like a fire truck”
“How did you know it’s about a girl?”
“Ashton your my boy, you’ve been doing that since your first crush now this girl Anna you two”
“No were not dating she’s just going through a rough stage at the moment”
“Well alright then, but I’m just saying I could see you two being a thing” mum said winking at me
“And I’m going up to my room” I grabbed my bag running upstairs, I played a bit of the drums and then ran on stairs ate dinner. I wonder what Anna is up too probably gone on one of her walks or is doing one of her assessments that’s due in a week or something, I was lying in bed throwing the ball up in the air thinking about Anna she’s perfect in so many ways but my thoughts had to get interrupted by the sound of my phone ringing, I sat up grabbing the phone from my bed side seeing it’s Luke ringing I picked it up and said
“What do you” before I finished Luke said in a worried voice
“Is Anna with you”?
“No, why”?
“Anna’s ran off”
“What do you mean ran off?”
“Ash I don’t want happened but Anna ran out the house I think she was crying we waited a while to see if she came back and we’ve searched everywhere for her she’s gone”
“I’m going to help look for her, I’ll let you know if I find her”
“Thanks Ashton” I hung up and ran downstairs putting on a jumper grabbing my keys.
“I’ll be back mum” I shut the door behind me running to mums car while trying to put shoes on, I pulled out of the drive way and drove off down the street looking for Anna. Why would she run off? Did that lady with the boxes have something to do with Anna all of a sudden running off I better find her quick because who knows what’s running through her minds at the moment.
