Q: How did you find out about your type?
A: I randomly discovered it through some MBTI posts on the web and some online personality quizzes. That's when I took some MBTI tests and then tried to see if the results and the indicated traits matched my own. After a few tests that gave me false results, I ended up on the right result which I later made sure to confirm by consulting an expert.
Q: Which personality indicator do you consider the most valid?
A: I would have to say the Enneagram and the MBTI one. They're the ones I trust the most because they take a variety of traits into consideration which is something you don't see often in personality indicators.
Q: Have you taken the Enneagram indicator test?
A: Of course.
Q: What's your result?
A: It says I'm type 5 which from what I've found, is the Enneagram version of INTPs.
Q: How much did the discovery of your type help you and your life?
A: Assuming that it did help me huh? (chuckle), well...first of all I realized that my entire attitude and perspective of the world has a name and actually belongs to some sort of a group even if I don't necessarily share every single trait with others of that group. And since I found out about it, I've been doing research upon research on the whole psychology of my type and I've been reading lots of books that have given me more confidence and joy, a peace of mind, if you want.
Q: What are the best and worst traits of your type?
A: The things I do like about my type would be...our analytical and objective way of thinking, our variety of interests, I mean we literally never really get bored when we do our own thing, our curiosity for knowledge and our independence...in everything. I don't get easily influenced by others, in fact it's quite difficult for me to change my mind or ideas to fit a certain ideal or group or satisfy someone else. On the other hand we can be pretty childish sometimes, we can be very aloof to a concerning point and we can also be very socially awkward and 'cold' which can definitely create issues. One more thing I can't stand about my type is when I go through these irritating phases where I lack basic motivation to complete tasks and goals.
Q: Wonderful. Now, which types do you think would get along best with yours?
A: I don't really have any adequate experience with guessing other people's types although I do have a general view of my peers, but based on my research on all types, I think INTJs, ISTPs, ENTPs, ENTJs and INFJs are probably the ones that would go best with INTPs.
