The 1920s saw the prohibition of the manufacture, sale, and transport of "intoxicating liquors" for "beverage purposes," and  widespread societal change change for women. Before the 20s, women certainly weren't welcome in saloons (then the kingdoms of men!) and smoking in public would  probably have been considered bad taste. Even during the 20s, what we know today as the iconic 'flapper' haircut - the bob - could mean relative scandal in the workplace for a woman employed there. The 1920s were a time of chaos and change, but it certainly wasn't all glamorous.

I hope you enjoy this story of an "ordinary" girl who gets herself into an extraordinary mess.
