Dear Sir,
Before Facebook, there was Friendster.
And Friendster it was. Dropping comments and testimonials in each other's profile were the 'thing' in Friendster. As well as exchanging messages. Oh, just how my heart skipped whenever I get one from you. The best thing you've done? Making me one of your Featured Friends. I don't know why you did that. Out of kindness? Genuine friendship? Idk. I'm just so giddy you did!
My friends would tease me about it. I would blush and would show how happy I was for the fact that I was your featured friend. I'd view your profile every now and then just to make sure I wasn't removed. It's like keeping tabs of Billboard #100 and see if I'm still #1 on the chart. To my extreme happiness, I wasn't removed even if Facebook emerged and took over, until the site itself was taken down.
But then now I realized what I have overlooked before, amidst the Featured Friend phenomenon, the comments and testimonials shared...I was only a friend. Nothing more.
