Your P.O.V.

"Are you nervous?" I giggled as Shawn was getting up from his seat for the sixth time since we arrived at the hospital about 10 minutes ago. He quickly turned around to me, his cheeks blushing lightly. He immediately sat back down next to me. "No, I'm not."

I chuckled as I grabbed his hand. "You are Shawn. And that's okay." His eyes searched for mine. "I'm nervous too." I reassured him. He let out a sigh. "How come you don't seem nervous at all?"

I shrugged as I looked down, playing with his hands. "I'm probably just better at hiding it." "I don't even know why I am this nervous. I mean, I don't care whether it's a girl or a boy. I'm happy with both, really. As long as it's healthy..." he trailed and I could see how his mind was taking him to the most absurd thoughts.

"Hey, look at me" I demanded and he did as I said. "He or she is gonna be healthy, don't worry. It's gonna be the healthiest baby there's ever been" I tried to encourage him. Shawn nodded as he carefully stroked my baby bump.

I looked out of the window. "I would love to have a girl. But at the same time, it would be great having a boy. I don't know, I feel like I could handle a boy better. On the other hand, I know much more about girls, obviously, I mean, I am a girl"

I didn't realize I had started rambling until Shawn squeezed my hand.

"Y/n" he laughed.

I hid my face in his shoulder. "Maybe I'm not as good at hiding as I thought" I mumbled embarrassed.

"It's okay love. Don't be embarrassed." Shawn gently stroked my hair as he pressed a kiss to my forehead. "I know you'll be an amazing mother, no matter whether it's gonna be a boy or a girl" he whispered. I reached up so I could press a kiss to his cheek.

"Thank you" I smiled brightly. The word mother still made the butterflies in my stomach fly around like crazy. To this point I couldn't fully believe Shawn and I would become parents. "Mrs y/l/n" a nurse called as she entered the room Shawn and I were waiting in. I quickly got up. "That's me" I smiled at her. She returned the smile as she asked me to follow her.

On the way to the surgery where I'd have the ultrasound test I grabbed for Shawn's hand. I was so incredibly glad he was doing this with me. As soon as we entered the room I laid down on the bench and Shawn sat down next to me. "The doctor will be right with you" the nurse informed us before she left the room. I looked up at Shawn as he was still holding onto my hand. "So, we're really gonna find out now" Shawn shook his head in disbelieve.

Only a couple minutes later my doctor entered the room and greeted the two of us. I had been here before, obviously, but it was Shawn's first time coming with me. "So you're the father?" she asked him as the two of them shook hands. Shawn nodded as he sat back down next to me. Then she asked me how I had been feeling since I saw her last and I explained how well the pregnancy was treating me whilst I lifted up my shirt so she could prepare me for the ultrasound. From the corner of my eye I could see how Shawn was observing everything that was going on. I giggled at his cuteness.

"It's gonna be a bit cold now" she warned me before pressing the ultrasonic probe onto my bump. I closely watched her expression as she was looking at the monitor. I sighed in relief as she started smiling. Everything seemd to be alright. "So" she eventually spoke up "are you ready to find out the gender of your baby?" Shawn squeezed my hand as both of us nodded eagerly. "Well" she turned around the monitor so we could both see the ultrasound picture "say hello to your little girl."

I gasped. A girl. Immediately I looked up at Shawn and almost teared up at his sight. "A girl" he whispered, a tear escaping his eye and rolling down his cheek. Carefully I got up and took his face in both of my hands. "A girl" I whispered. I could see more tears brimming in his soft brown eyes but at the same time a smile was forming on his lips. I got closer and pecked his lips and when I pulled away Shawn wrapped his arms tightly around me. I grabbed onto him just as tight and inhaled his scent that had become the smell of home to me.

"A girl" he whispered again and I giggled.
