The next day, Lily waited impatiently for the last period, which was History.

Which meant sitting next to Ethan.

Ethan seemed really nice, even though they'd technically never said a single word to each other.

She sat in the usual spot at lunch, against the tree trunk, waiting for Parker and Crystal.

Parker ran up to her, brown paper bag in hand.

"Hey, Wattle!" She exclaimed happily, sitting down.

"Hey, Parker."

Parker produced a chocolate chip cookie from the bag. "Want it?"

Chocolate chip cookies were Lily's weakness. Even if she wasn't hungry, she would have a chocolate chip cookie for the sake of it.

"But it's yours," Lily said.

"I have another one."

Lily thanked her and took the cookie, taking a bite. It was gooey and delicious.

Sure enough, there was another cookie in the bag.

"Do you know where Crystal is, by any chance?" Lily asked.

Parker quickly scanned the courtyard. Then her face fell.

"Um... she's sitting with Layla Miller again," Parker told her.

"Do not say her name in my presence."

"Sorry."

Lily looked towards Layla's table. Sure enough, there she was. She looked uncomfortable, however when Layla looked at her she put on a fake smile.

Lily's heart dropped.

When Lily walked into History she saw that Ethan was already sitting at his desk.

They smiled at each other and Lily took a seat. There was a note at the desk.

Still on for frozen yogurt?
- Ethan :-)

Lily wrote a reply.

Of course! Also, thanks for including the nose. They can breathe now.

Ethan smiled at the response.

Wouldn't want the smiley face dying, would we?

Lily wrote:

That would be horrible. By the way, how are we getting to said frozen yogurt place?

Ethan reponded:

We'll walk. It's not that far.

Lily looked up and their eyes met. They both smiled before Ethan began to blush and he buried his face in the textbook.

Lily silently giggled. He was adorable.

Lily and Ethan walked out the entrance of the school, sandwiched between a crowd of students.

They walked and Ethan ducked out of the crowd and down a street, grabbing Lily's sleeve so he didn't lose her.

They walked up the street. It was quiet and tranquil.
