A/N: The song above is just a song I kinda assigned to Lorelei, like a theme.

"Move!" I snapped, trying to get around a group of stationary tourists. I stopped, turned a corner and pulled my pack off my shoulders. I zipped it open and yanked out my hoodie and slid it on over my T-shirt. A clap of thunder sounded above me, and a drop of rain hit my face. "Dang New York weather."

I had lived in Arizona prior to moving here, and the near constant precipitation was grating on my nerves. "Oh, c'mon! You gotta be kidding me!" I yanked my umbrella out of my bag, opened it and huddled under it. I heard another clap of thunder, and quickly saw a flash of light much brighter than any light I'd ever seen. I whipped around and saw an enormous flash of bright multicolored light coming down. I squinted and placed a flat hand over my eyes in a vizor-like position.

"What the heck is that?" I muttered. It didn't look much further away than a mile. However, the last time I saw something like that it was before some nut job megalomaniac killed a bunch of people. I wasn't in the mood for that again. "Well, guess what, chica," I said. "It's time to move. We are not getting blown sky high cos some guy has a superiority complex." I grabbed my things and began making my way to the bus station across town.
