Seventh year James trying to be extra sneaky with his pranks because he's HEAD BOY and meant to be RESPONSIBLE is very important. I bet he and Sirius would come up with ideas and then present them to Remus like "can we do this without getting caught" and Remus would be like "you are terrible why did anyone make you head boy" but he does it anyway because he secretly quite enjoys it when James shoves him in front of McGonagall and gets him to explain how they didn't technically break any rules.
