The start of the fight was a blur of heightened fear and quick movements, Virgil ducked and dodged the shadows that came his way as the others tried to stop Depressions constant attacks. Prince had created a force field by pulling the energy form the surrounding fight and making it a solid wall; he made sure that it surrounded Patton and Logan before trying to join the fight.

Patton felt helpless throughout the fight, he just made sure that they felt enough courage to keep fighting yet not so much that they would do something stupid whilst hiding behind the shimmering force field. He tried to manipulate Depressions emotions, to make him to exhausted to fight, but his anger was too strong for him to change from so far away. His hand found Logan's and tightly squeezed it, smiling at the telekinetic man who was mentally throwing what ever he could at the villain in front of them in order to distract him.

But they where knocked out early on on the fight, when the shield fell as Roman lost concentration.

Virgil... Virgil had no idea what was going on. His perception of reality had warped with the adrenaline of he fight and he couldn't tell what was friend or foe... but he kept fighting. The agonizing anger that he had harbored in his body for years was finally being released and he was unable to stop himself from forcing his way into his... his abusers head and twisting his darkest thoughts around to attack him with.

They where like knifes, piercing his skin from every angle and causing him to screech in pain when they tore through his body. He dropped to the floor, blood dripping from his numerous wounds, with a small thunk before closing his eyes and lifting his arms. One last wave of shadows was sent out, aiming for Virgil.

Virgil prepared for his death that was long over due; maybe he could finally see Missy and Pranks again.

Maybe it was the drugs in his system, maybe it was luck but the shadows never reached their intended target. Instead of being stabbed violently through the chest he found himself laying on the floor, pushed away from the sharp blades that should have killed him.

But they didn't, instead they ripped Roman apart and baptized him in his own blood. The scarlet liquid stained the whites of his clothes, pooled on the floor and crawled up the soles of Virgil's boots and the hems of his trousers as he stared at the hero in horror.

"No. Nononono, not again. You aren't dying, you can't die. You... You aren't allowed to die," Virgil sobbed as he crawled over to Romans mutilated corpse, uncaring or unaware of the blood that soaked into his clothes.

"Virgil, Virgil! I'm okay, see its a scratch. Just a scratch," Roman tried to reassure the younger man by sitting up but his body was frozen in place, surrounded by blood that was not real yet seemed to be his own.

"I'm sorry, I'm so fucking sorry. Please, please don't die," Virgil brokenly mumbled as he tried to apply pressure onto any wound that he could see - unaware that his perception of reality had been warped and that Roman was fine.

"No, no, Verge don't be. This isn't you're fault, I'm fine," Roman replied despite knowing it was pointless, the sobbing man couldn't hear him.... But maybe, if Roman could force his unresponsive body to move, he could communicate with him some other way.

He pulled all oh his terror, all of his pain and guilt that he had been holding for years from his body as he focused on making a note, but it wasn't enough. So he pulled the energy coursing through the building, causing the lights to flicker and the ground to shake; but it wasn't enough. He slumped with defeat, tears mixing with his blood and hitting the floor with a far too gentle tapping noise.

"Roman? Is.. is that you?" Virgil asked cautiously, hope seeping into his shaking voice after seeing the flickering lights. His tears had dried as he looked around for his friend; hands out in front of him, searching for the other man. When he heard the tapping of tears hitting the bloody ground he spun around and saw his dead friend kneeling over his own body.

A scream tore its way through his throat as he backed away from the slowly fading pool of blood, away from both the lifeless corpse and his alive friend.

"Roman?" He tentatively asked before reaching a hand out and not-quite placing it on his friends cheek.

"It's me, I'm okay," Roman whispered and with that the illusion faded from around them, instead of Roman laying (almost) dead on the floor t was Depression - the lifeless eyes had turned hateful as the dying man spat at Virgil before letting out a fetal burst of coughs. The villain died as the two heroes payed him no attention, instead pulling each other into a careful embrace.

"Fuck, I'm so glad you're okay. I love you, please don't leave me!" Virgil sobbed into Romans chest.

"I wont, I love you too," Roman whispered soothingly as he stroked a hand through Virgil's tangled hair.
