{CHAPTER 1}

I look to the right, and I see a forest full of oak and pine trees. Then I look to my left, and see what I have been hoping for for the last few days: water. There's a long stretch of beach, somewhat rocky, but mostly sand, and my mind starts doing cartwheels. It's a beach. Back at home, in district 4, Finnick and I would always swim and fish at the lake near our home, so I'm an excellent swimmer, and I'll be able to catch fish no problem. And there's a stream running into the water, so I'll be able to stay hydrated.

I have it pretty well of, considering I'm not that good with weapons, other than a trident, because I've made friends with the careers, and I have a good source of food, and water.

I've completely lost track of time while I've been daydreaming, that I didn't notice how much time has gone by, there's only ten seconds until the games start! I quickly decide that I'll run straight to the cornucopia, then run right back the way I came from, to a large boulder about a half mile down the beach.

"Seven, six, five, four," booms the voice of our announcer, "THREE...TWO...ONE! Let the 70th hunger games begin!"
