Avery sat back, stunned at the information she just obtained. She quickly stood up and went to find Baekhyun, only to bump into him as she exited the room. He immediately reached out to steady her and smiled,
"You alright?"
She nodded,
"Yes, but there's something you need to see."
The seriousness in her tone made the smile fall from his face as she handed him Lay's journal. Baekhyun read through it, leaning back on the wall behind them. When he finished he spoke,
"I remember everything this journal talks about. But, it's like a foggy mirror. I have a general idea of what happened, but the details are lost. I remember when I fist saw her, she tripped and just about fell into my arms. I made some stupid joke about her falling for me. I think she kissed me, then everything gets hazy. I wish I could tell you more."
He sighed with aggravation and let his head fall back against the wall. Avery tilted her head in thought before asking,
"What's the next clear memory you have?"
Baekhyun bit his lip in thought before answering,
"I remember something burning. Whenever any of us remember that on either side we feel an intense hatred for the other side. Whenever I remember it hatred for the wolves just bubbled inside me. Same goes for them. The next thing I knew we were here. We've always had this... desire to stay in the forest. We've never wanted to leave. Yeah we'd maybe go into the town at night to feed but other than that we never leave the forest. Until you showed up, at least. We knew something was up with you the moment we found you on our couch that night. Once you woke up we figured out you weren't her. I'm so sorry you ever got dragged into all of this."
Baekhyun said as he rubbed his eyes. Avery shook her head,
"Don't be sorry. It's good that I'm here. Maybe I can help put a stop to this once and for all. It sounds like all of you have been suffering for a very long time. I want to end that and I'll do it however I can."
Baekhyun pulled Avery into a tight hug and held her close,
"You have no idea what that means... thank you, Avery."
The young girl smiled at the vampire in front of her, but a loud howling caused her to snap her head to the balcony of Lay's room. Both she and Baekhyun rushed to the balcony door to see the wolves. Baekhyun's eyes widened,
"They're coming for you. We have to go."
Avery nodded as he grabbed her hand and pulled her from the room, racing down the stairs and down into the basement. Baekhyun locked the door behind them and turned to Avery,
"Are you alright?"
She nodded silently before speaking,
"Do you think Isabel is here?"
He shrugged,
"It's the only logical place. She isn't the type to put herself in unnecessary danger. She makes others do her dirty work. That's what's happening now. They won't come down here, though. As long as they don't think we're here, that is."
Avery once again nodded silently as she moved further into the basement. The next time she spoke, her voice was hushed,
"Why did you say they wouldn't come down here?"
"They don't like basements. None of us do. Our mansions only have them in case anything was to happen and we needed to hide. If you noticed, the entrance was a secret panel in the wall. If they think we ran out of the house they should leave."
Avery was about to say something but froze as she saw dust fall from the ceiling and heard the floorboards above them creak, a signal that someone was above them. Baekhyun moved to hold her in his arms as the wolves padded around the ground floor of the house. Avery was able to keep her breathing shallow and steady as she heard one of them approach the secret panel in the wall. Baekhyun's hold on her tightened as the wolf's steps came to a halt in front of the panel. Baekhyun kissed the top of her head in an attempt to calm himself more than her. Avery breathed a quiet sigh of relieve as they heard the wolf recede from the panel and rested her head against the vampire's chest. He smiled down at the thief in his arms as he led her deeper into the corridors of the basement.

As Avery and Baekhyun continued to walk through what seemed to be a labyrinth under the abode, the thief noticed Baekhyun becoming more and more anxious and tense. She lightly tapped his shoulder, causing him to jump slightly,
"Are you okay?"
Concern filled her voice as his eyes clouded with anguish,
"I'm sorry, Avery. I'm so, so sorry."
Before she could ask what he meant, a white hot pain filled her brain. Avery's knees gave out and she fell to the floor in pain. She slowly looked up at Baekhyun, a tear falling from his left eye as a woman came up behind him. She wrapped her arms around his waist in a loving manner as she smiled up at Baekhyun adoringly. Before Avery passed out she realized what had happened:
Isabel was here, and she used Baekhyun to lead Avery right into a trap.
