Chapter 16

Dylan had told my parents that Charlie had stayed over at a friends house. Currently Dylan, Kylie, Tara, Alice and I were all sitting in the Cafe still. We honestly had no idea how to put two and two together when we currently had zero idea what was going on.

"Come on Dylan you have to have some clue as to where he could be," Kylie pleaded as she continued to flip through the Clarity Falls phone book. I had no idea what should thought she would find in there, but I would take any help right now.

Life had been so much simpilar a week ago. I wish I could go back to that.

"Look guys we were kept on separate schedules. I don't even know which people he worked with," Dylan said. He was so stupid. Charlie was his brother how could he not have checked up on him?

"What about this?" Alice asked flipping around the laptop place on her lap so we could see the screen. Using the information Derek had given us as well as some research we had managed to form a sort of pyramid of importance based on their rolls. The truth was it was more difficult to creative realistic scenarios.

"I would say that eyebrows at the second level, is having an affair with the blonde on the fourth level. Except Blondie has a crush on Charlie so eyebrow's buddie, being dude in need of a hair cut, kidnapped Charlie in an effort to win the heart on Blondie for himself," Tara said. Each of her scenarios were less likely than the last. They did seem to lighten the mood a bit. Well as light as then can get when you have a missing 13 year old on your hands.

"As much as you guys are excellent sleuths. We all know the only person we know who could give us the information we need is Lucas," Dylan said. We knew it was true but that did not mean that we were excited about asking for his help.

"Claire?" Tara asked me. As much as I wanted the phone book to give me the answers or Tara's laptop find a website called find my little brother now.com, I knew neither of those things were going to happen. So because of this I nodded my head ever so slowly.

When we got to Lucas' house none of us were willing to knock on the door. "You're the man," Alice said pushing him up to the door.

Dylan knocked, and it was quite quiet. I had to admit I wanted to laugh but I couldn't find it in me.

"If you want something done right you have to do it yourself," Kylie mumbled as she rapped he knuckles on the door. Sherry opened it and we all smiled at her, but she would have to be an idiot to believe them genuine.

"Come on in," Sherry said as she opened the door even wider. Welcoming us into her home. Worry lines wrinkled their way across her forehead.

"Is Lucas home?" Tara asked.

"No but he will be soon," she said as she had us sit down in the small living room. We all squished down on the same couch and Sherry took the chair.

"Can I help you?" she asked us. We all shook our heads simultaneously. She gave us a half-hearted chuckle.

"Do you mind if we wait here?" Kylie asked, no doubt an attempt to fill the awkward silence. We all knew that if we left now we probably wouldn't come back. Or at least didn't want to have to. The truth is at this point I would do anything to have Charlie back worth me.

"Not at all, make yourselves comfortable," she said gesturing to the couch we just barely all fit on. The couch would fo t two people comfortably, and there was five of us.

"It's a nice place you've got here," Dylan said but was interrupted by the door opening. We all let out a sigh of relief. As much as I wanted to avoid himI needed answers, and I was relieved to know I was about to get them.
