You could only hear the sounds of pencils on paper and small whispers as the kids diligently did their notes on the causes of world war one. Their head down low and they focused to looking from the heavy textbooks to their papers.

The door clicks open and the school councilor walks in. She silently but fast walks over to the male teacher, whom looks up and smiles.

"Yes, Mrs.Grand?" He questions as he switches his attention from grading papers to the woman.

"I need Julie to come down to the office right now. There's an emergency situation." She syas in a hushed voice and very concerned. The male must've seen the very serious and worried look so he turns to the class and stands, walking over to the blonde haired student's desk. The girl looks up wide eyed at the teacher. What had she done? Is Eve hurt? Is Chad hurt? Did Shari call?

"Come one Julie, Mrs.Grand is gonna walk you down to the office. There's a situation." He speaks just so only Julie maybe a few peeping ears hears it. The girl nods and quickly packs uo her stuff, afraid of what may be wrong. She sighs a shaky sigh when the thought of her mother getting into drugs and alcohol strikes her. But an even more horrifying thought haunts her. The thought of her father being home.

Her breaths get caught in her throat as the walk out of the classroom. Mrs.Grand places her hand softly on thr lower part of Julie's back. The girl tenses the slight bit, the older woman could tell however. Already have even told why she pulled Julie out, she quickly retreats her hand back.

"You alright Julie?" She asks as they open the doors to the councilor office. The girl nods, fidgeting nervously with her hands. The skin around her nails already have been picked at before.

The woman leads Julie into her office. There an apprehensive Chad and small, scared Eve sat in one chair. Chad bouncing the small girl delicately in his lap in attempt to calm the kid. Julie looks scars at her siblings to the principal, councilors and a teacher and another unknown man in the room. Ignoring them however, Julie scoops Eve tightly uo in her arms. She doesn't know why they were here but she knew it couldn't be good.

"Oh baby, it's okay." She whispers gently, tucking the brown strands of hair from the little girl's crying face. Eve cries silently as she pulls away from her elder sister's neck and nods, listening.

"Listen babe I don't know what happened but you'll be okay. Just calm down for me sweetie, okay? We'll figure this out." Julie speaks smoothly. She doesn't see the sad eyes that look at her. The sympathetic ones that had never seem Julie love or care for someone before. They only knew the girl that never spoke up and kept to herself. This girl was different. Sweeter and seemed out together as she sat down with her sister still clinging to her for dear life.

Chad leans over red eyed and all and takes his sisters hand in his. He gives her a silent saying with his eyes and Julie nods back.

"You'll be okay."

The principal clears his throat after a silent argument of who was going to tell the children of the event so earlier that day.

"So earlier today just after school had started, your mom was found drunk and on drugs driving down the street. They arrested her and have her in custody. We have no father listed on your emergency contact lists. Is they're anyone we could contact?" He asks carefully. Chad and Julie shake their heads. Eve just lays her head on her sister's chest and sniffles.

"Um we have no contact with our family. Mom syas they're all in bad places." Julie mumbles, hugging he r sister closer. "And we don't have much contact with out older sister anymore."

"A father maybe?" Another man speaks up. All three children shake their heads frantically. That's the least part they'd want to be.

"No daddy." Evey blurts with a fearful look on her face. All fo the adults look concerned at eachother.

"I'm going to have to take you all into the system until something is figured out. We can place them in an emergency placement, expect for Chad. He is aged out." The man, a social worker, explains mostly to the. teachers. An alarmed look flashes over the older boy's face.

"You can't take them! They're all I have. Please I can go with them and I can support them! Have a job and I go to school." The boy tries to reason with a pleading look in his eyes. The man sighs.

"We tried contacting your sister. There was no answer to the phone and we checked her status. You both do not make enough to support your little sisters. Shari has a history of drugs, alcohol and DUIS. You guys are deemed to be able to support your little sisters. I'm sorry, but we can keep you in contact with your sister's meanwhile." He reasons, trying to calm to boy.

"I have been supporting them! I work two jobs and but then what they need please there has to be something I can do!" He pleads once more, his voice breaking at the last few words. The adults' hearts shatter as the childrens' teary eyes And shaky breaths. The art teacher whom also helped in crisis situations looked sadly at the girl in the chair who was quietly crying, holding her little sister ever so tightly to her chest. You would've have never known.

"Oh mommy, why couldn't you just stay away, you were doing so well." Julie whispers, not noticing her thoughts were accidently voiced. The adults flinch at the thought of three kids being a home without a dad and a bad mom (even though all four, icluding shari, would argue she wasn't bad. Just went to dark places.). And without safety.

"Julie, collect your school things. We have to go to your home and collect a few things and get you placed into an emergency home." The social worker speaks up. The girl shakes her head.

"Will I be with Eve?" She asks scared.

"Yes. Chad can call you two and you'll probably see each other tomorrow." The man promises, nodding to the three people. Julie starts to build up tears again as she has an also teary eyed Eve get off her lap. Chad hugs her tightly.

"Don't cry, Jewels. It'll be okay and mom will get out and be together again, okay? You'll be safe with Eve." The older brother syas softly, using the pad of his thumb to wipe escaping tears.

"Don't cry," Julie repeats hoarsly, "please don't let me go back to dad." She whispers the last part. Chad furiously, hugging both of his sisters tightly.

"No never," Chad responds firmly, "And remeber what Abby said." He speaks, placing a small and sweet kiss on both of girls' foreheads.

"Never let other people's bad interrupt your good." Julie responds with her eyes closed. Chad nods.

"And when it seems your world has come Crashing to your feet, pick it up with a smile And put it back together. It may not be the same, but you'll be okay." Chad adds softly, looking at his sister in the eyes. The girl nods and breathes in.

"No more tears." Julie repeats, setting the youngest one on her hip.

"No more sad." The youngest adds. Julie laughs softly and places a kiss on Eve's head and nods.

"I'll call you and it'll be okay. I'm gonna go to the station and see what's up. Hang on for me Jewels." He adds. Julie nods and walks after the man.

She doesn't make eye contact as she enters the car, just buckles and keeps her sister close pressed to her, running her fingers through Eve's hair, whispering a song she sung every night.

"Just close your eyes, the sun is going down. You'll be alright, no one can hurt you now."
