Lorelei

Down the river Rhine,
There she lived,
Lorelei,
Over mountains steep.

The sun shone brightly,
On the daisies we planted,
Bliss,
Music of your reed.

Garland of pansies,
Crown of jasmines,
Dance,
On the happy songs.

Rustling leaves,
Whistling breeze,
Beauty,
Of your smiling face.

The wind carried,
Her woeful lullaby,
Tonight,
I saw you slipping away.

"Oh! What a beauty,
Must be she,
Singing,
In delicious euphony."

I see your pale,
Face in fever.

"I wish to see her,
Play my reed for,
Nymph,
Living over mountains."

I see your eyes,
Full of lust.

"She wears stars,
Shimmering in tulle,
Deity,
Everyone calls her."

I feel your shivering,
Weak body in excitement.

Day and night,
You kept building,
Boat,
Rowing down.

"Oh! What a beauty,
Must be she,
Singing,
In delicious euphony."

I hear you talking,
In your sleep.

"I wish to see her,
Play my reed for,
Nymph,
Living over mountains."

I read the note,
You left in the morning.

"She wears stars,
Shimmering in tulle,
Deity,
Everyone calls her."

Your voice echoed,
Painfully in my ears.

Down the river Rhine,
There she lived,
Lorelei,
Over mountains steep.

I kept waiting,
But you never came back.

I sit beside,
The daisies we planted,
Missing,
Music of your reed.

Garland of pansies,
Crown of jasmines,
Dead,
Over many years.

Rustling leaves,
Whistling breeze,
Hoping,
To see your smiling face.

The wind still carries,
Her woeful lullaby,
Everyday,
I see men slipping away.

And distant loud cry,
Of maiden sobbing,
Trying,
To stop their beloved.

And Lorelei?
She keeps singing,
Trapping,
People we love.
