your pain is never permanent
even if it is immanent
it's possible to leave your mind
just give it a little more time
it's really hard right now, that's true
but I know you can make it through
just keep your head up to the sky
and really, it's okay to cry
cry all you want, here's my shoulder
just don't let it make you colder
let it make you even stronger
bring your mind back into order
I love your smile, but it's gone
you make it seem like it's been drawn
never fake it 'till you make it
it won't help you get through the grit
come here, I know you need a friend
I'll never let you off the end
because that's what friends are for, right?
to lend an ear all through the night
laugh when you laugh, cry when you cry
hand you tissues to help you dry
the pain streaming down your damp cheek
telling the stories you don't speak
for when the night's over and done
remember there's a shining sun
