she was in pain, they saw her face
just, no one there wanted to face
the place beyond their comfort zone
so she sat there again, alone
her bones shaking in misery
sore from picking up her debris,
mending her, every piece by piece
and bringing her mind into peace
belief she'll never live again
it always seemed to fill her then
transcending her mind into war
she asked herself, "what is it for?"
it tore her from the inside-out
everything filling her with doubt
throughout her every day she cried
for help in every place supplied
she tried again to help her cause
but no one ever even paused
because they feared it'd hurt their pride
but what it did was made her hide
behind a perfectly made guard
until the day it came unbarred
it scarred the headphones that she wore
with tears as she lie on the floor
the war that no one could defeat
the lyrics destroyed in one sweep
repeating everything she felt
in the meaning of them, she dwelt
upheld by their every remark
she held that moment in her heart
the art that filled her every being
made her happiness worth seeing
reeling from darkness, her smile
something unseen for a while
a vile world of broken minds
somehow made her pain rewind
and find a way to be okay
by simply hearing "not today"
