  I was terrified.

Terrified for the Eevee I was fighting for, terrified for Mightyena who was  fighting for Eevee and terrified for myself if I messed up.

But still... no choice. I needed Eevee back, and I had to fight to save it.

  "Ready, little girl?" Aliana challenged.

I drew myself up to my full height. "Definitely. Eevee's coming back with his rightful trainer."

"Enough chitchat. Druddigon, use Dragon Claw!"

"Dodge and use Ice Fang!" Mightyena dodged the blow sent by Druddigon by flattening down onto the ground then bit Druddigon hard. Part of its scales became frozen, making it sluggish.

"Dark Pulse!" Mightyena sent a wave of darkness towards Druiddigon, knocking it down onto the ground.

"Use Dragon Pulse!" Even when lying down, Druddigon sent a streak of energy towards Mightyena, hitting it in its vulnerable belly. Fortunately, Mightyena struggled to his feet and, under my command, delivered a Bite which took Druddigon down.

I wasted no time. Returning Mightyena to his Pokeball, I dashed over to Eevee, picked it up and ran. Branches scratched my face and weeds brushed my legs, but still I ran. I ran until I reached my camp, panting and gasping. I dropped Eevee onto the ground and promptly collapsed next to her, still breathing hard.

I gave Eevee a weary smile. "Don't be scared. You're safe now." "Nyeh." Eevee bounced over and made itself comfortable in my lap. It fell asleep within a minute.

The bliss is something I still miss today. If only I knew, as the young naive 11-year-old rookie Pokemon trainer I was then, how much more terrible Team Flare was.
