Chapter 16

  I sat in the Pokemon center with all six of my Pokemon, looking at the Iceberg Badge in my hand. 

  Honchkrow flapped above me, probably resisting the urge to grab the gleaming badge in its beak. My newly evolved Zoroark leaned against the wall, probably thinking about who to prank next (I almost got arrested approximately 13 times thanks to her). My Liepard, also newly evolved, paced around my feet, purring. Mightyena was asleep, Umbreon was sitting at my feet and Absol was literally on my lap.

  "What to do now?" I muttered to myself. "I've got all eight badges and I can't compete in the Kalos League, and there's an entire year until I can. I should train, but where?"

   Almost on cue, I got a call on my Pokegear. I fished it out of my bag and opened it. "Hello?"

  "Astrid!" that was my father. He sounded ecstatic. "Your mother just made a very important discovery that I know you'll be interested in!"

  "What is it?" I asked, interested. Maybe some new species of Dark-type Pokemon? Or maybe it would be a new type of Pokemon, or even a new legendary Pokemon.

  "We found a Mega Stone that has Absol's DNA in it!"

  I almost dropped my Pokegear. "Wait, what? Does that mean that Absol's capable of Mega Evolution?"

  "Provided that you have both a Key Stone and a strong bond with your Absol, then yes!"

  "Holy Arceus, that's so cool! This might be the best discovery that you've ever made! Thanks for telling me, Dad!"

  I guess that was the day I really got interested in Mega Evolution. Never did I think it would change my life, for better or for worse.
