"The Unknown Path"
(part 1)
The sky was growing dark
As I walked down the trail,
A trail unknown
Leading through the forests of the mountain,
A trail none had traversed before
A path I wanted to explore.
It had been morning
But now night took its toll.
Too curious to turn back, though
Instead I continued on
Up the narrowing, overgrown path.
Thunder rumbled across the mountains
And raindrops began to fall,
The wind picked up, rustling the trees all around
As lightning flashed, illuminating the world.
Suddenly dark shapes appeared
Stark lines in the sky
Ahead of the narrow, dirt trail
And I stopped, I waited,
Wondering what it was or could be.
The sky flashed white
The shapes burned into life
Taking form
Revealing towers of daggers
Reaching up to the sky.
More curious now
Of where this path led,
I continued on
Until the forest ended
And the trail opened wide
Revealing the shapes' true form
A castle and stone towers
Resting lonely on top of the hill,
Its walls covered with vines
Stones missing here and there
Like an ancient skeleton.
An abandoned castle,
Empty and forlorn.
This was where the path ended.
The overgrown path
That I had glimpsed day by day
Wonderous and mysterious
As it curved its way, disappearing
Up into the mountain mists.
I finally knew
Where the unknown path led.
"Forgotten"
(part 2)
The rain slowed down
As the moon began to shine
Illuminating the castle's wet stones.
The forgotten castle
That rested on a hill
All alone in the mountains,
A castle I had found
