As The Bird Soars

From the windowsill I gaze out
Eyes filled with longing dreams above
Like the graceful birds in calm serenity
The swallow my heart lifts to the sky...
As the swallow, it soars through the clouds.

On the rooftop I watch the horizon,
Lonely sun setting in golden, molten sorrow,
Dark clouds rising overhead full of tears to
Obscure the last streaks of light from sight.
Each falling raindrop reflects my unending
Road through life's trials, laced with pain...
As the swallow, it soars through the clouds.

Perched in the highest tree I look up at the sky,
Thunder rolls, groaning like the turmoil inside me.
Lightning flashes sharp with a lonely heart's cry,
A feared monster, unwanted, unloved and unseen am I...
As the swallow, it soars through the clouds.

On my favorite rock, I peer up at the falling rain
A constant pattering of a soul's wet tears.
What happened to the happiness I never felt?
Why can't I be free of this cold grasp of darkness...
As the swallow, it soars through the clouds?

Standing on the cliff's edge, I watch the sea's waves
Swirling my head in whirlpools of torrential hate,
Dragging my soul, all alone, to its forsaken depths
Suffocating my spirit, overshadowing my vision...
As the swallow, it soars through the clouds.

At the edge of the sea's sand, I gaze on to the beyond,
Swallows in that sweet tasting freedom careen as one
Together in that far-away horizon, lit with sun's golden hope,
A hope from above, radiating Heaven's tranquil light.
Maybe I am not alone and unknown, nor hated...
He who made the swallow's heart and dreams made mine, too.
I let the swallow lift my soul above the clouds on its wings
Up to Heaven, and there
I find my heart's lost smile.
