The car was silent as we drove away.

"So Awsten...are you excited about meeting the rest of the family?" I shrugged and continued looking out the window. I could feel their worried glances burn into me.

"You'll like them don't worry. Otto takes some warming up to but he's a sweet boy. Travis is a nice kid and he's really excited about meeting you." The woman who's name I didn't know smiled back at me I just nodded and turned up the music.

[Time skip]

We began driving down the street until finally pulling into the driveway of a very expensive looking house. It was a beautiful wood house with three floors and a huge backyard.

The man parked the car and got out. He walked to the trunk and pulled out my bag. The woman got out and walked to my side of the car to open the door. I stepped out and noticed the rain had stopped, it was calm.

They both began walking to the door and I followed behind. My heart was racing again, faster this time, and painfully hard against my chest. We walked up the steps and the man pulled out his keys to unlock the door. After finally unlocking it he opened it and gestured me inside. The house was gigantic, I smiled for the first time in a while. As I walked inside there was a strong scent of vanilla throughout the house, it smelt amazing.

"Otto! Travis!" The man called to whom I assumed were his children.

"We'll have a little family meeting before we show you your room, is that alright?" I nodded, still looking around and taking in my new home.

"The family room is over there" he pointed to a small open spaced room with a couple couches and chairs. There was a large fireplace with a mantle holding pictures of the family.

I took a seat on one of the small brown chairs and crossed my legs. I was extremely nervous, and it didn't help that I haven't taken my anxiety meds since I left the orphanage.

Two kids my age walked down the stairs. The first boy was wearing a dark red T-shirt with black ripped jeans, and a black beanie. The other boy who followed behind wore a light blue shirt sleeves shirt with khaki shorts and gray running shoes. The walked into the room and had a seat on the brown couch across from the small chair I had sat down in.

I could tell I stuck out from the rest of the family. My faded blue hair and colorful clothes didn't help me blend into the rest of them.

This was my new family.
