These are also called one strand knots.  Curly girls get them ALL. THE. TIME.  The curlier your hair is the more prone your hair is to get them.

What happens is your hair curls around itself and basically makes a knot all by itself!  Believe it or not, there are ways to limit the amount of fairy knots you get.  This is what you do:

♡ Keep your hair moisturized

If your hair is has some slip, it'll be easier for the strands to glide past each other rather than getting tangled and knotting.

♡ Keep hair detangled while wet

Hair is extremely malleable while wet so when washing your hair it may be better to work in sections, twisting your hair when necessary to keep the hair in groups rather than giving it a chance to run free and tangle.

Remember:

♡Fairy knots aren't 100% avoidable, however you can limit the amount you have DRASTICALLY by following these rules

♡You don't have to trim on sight.  If I cut out every fairy knot I saw (which is what I used to do) I'd never stop cutting!  Save those fairy knot cut outs for your bi-annual trim.  (or whenever you actually trim.)
