Mario looked at me through hooded eyes and in his deep voice said, "This is only the beginning, Mamí. Those babies mean the world to me, and so does their mother. If that guy doesn't want to fight for you anymore, then hell, I will, with your stretch marks, extra weight, attitude, and all. All men are not so willing to give up."

I stared up into his brown eyes and waited for what he was going to do next, when out of my mouth, involuntarily, " show me" are the next words spoken.
