Strength in Darkness

I'm strong.

I'm stronger than it,

But I fear it.

When it starts to close in,

It makes me withdraw,

I'm losing interest.

Emotionally empty,

No spoons to invest in You,

I would rather walk alone,

Than drag you along.

I fear it...the darkness...

It whispers in my ear.

It whispers my name.

It makes promises but I know they are empty.

It confuses me,

It laughs in my face,

I know I'm strong,

I'm stronger than it.

Somedays it's harder than others,

Feeling trapped and stuck in a box,

Unable to move at times,

But I still smile,

I smile no matter what before it's gone.

It makes me insecure,

But I know I'm loved,

I know you are there,

Holding my hands,

And I suddenly don't feel so alone.

I'm strong,

I stay strong,

Because You are with me.
