The Silent Killer

It hides in the corners of your mind,

Ready to grab you when you least expect it,

To swallow you whole in its darkness,

It hides behind a mask of a friendly face,

A friend you know too well, because it lives inside You.

You try so hard to hold yourself together,

Trying so hard not to let the voices disturb you,

All these feelings coming at you out of nowhere,

Screaming so freaking loud inside your head, leaving You silenced.

You isolate yourself from the world

wanting nothing more but peace and silence,

You’re filled with fear and shame,

Afraid of not being understood,

Not wanting to drag anyone else with you.

You think yourself worthless,

So you must keep it a secret.

You struggle alone, wanting to reach out but can’t.

Afraid of rejection,

Scared of what they’ll think of You.

They lie.

All those voices, they lie, my Darling.

Don’t get closer to it,

Don’t let yourself go numb.

You ARE NOT WEAK!

YOU ARE STRONG!

You can win this war.

Speak up, scream, call out, or reach out!

YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

It may be scary but you got this, we all do.

We all have a story.

I lost a very dear friend to suicide. She suffered from depression and anxiety. I’ve myself have struggled with these feelings from time to time.

If you are struggling, please reach out to someone, my beloved family.

Yours truly, Your Silent Friend.
