Yamcha and Finn had been walking through the desert for a long while. Their TIE Fighter had crashed in the desert, and Poe was most likely dead. Now, the former stormtrooper and the former bandit had been trekking through the seemingly endless sands for quite a long time. Eventually, Yamcha stumbled, his eyes bouncing around. "I... need to... punch something..." Finn shook him by his shoulders. "Hey! Don't go insane on me!" Yamcha blinked, shaking his head, then nodded. "Y-yeah. Sorry." Finn nodded back, but he could also feel his mind beginning to warp. He only hoped that the two new friends could make it to civilization before they went crazy.

They eventually made it to what seemed to be a small outpost, and the duo immediately sprinted towards it. Finn made for a large troth where a weird animal was drinking from. Yamcha reached towards Finn. "Don't-" but the latter was already drinking. Finn gulped down the water, then immediately began to gag. Yamcha gave the stormtrooper deserter the hardest slap on the back he dared to give, and the water came out of Finn's mouth. Finn held his stomach, gasping and retching, and Yamcha helped him up. "I told you." Finn nodded. "N-next time... tell me faster!" Yamcha smiled apologetically, and they were about to continue walking when they heard shouts and noises as if a fight was happening. This time, Yamcha was the one to rush off.

When Finn caught up to Yamcha, he was staring at a group of thugs who had captured a girl with a staff on her back. A droid was next to her, and Finn realized that the droid fit Poe's description perfectly. But Yamcha wasn't focused on the droid. A grin spread across his face, and he began to laugh. Finn's eyes widened. "Don't jump in there! You might get hurt!" Yamcha looked at his friend and laughed louder, and Finn realized that Yamcha wasn't really listening- his brain had gone into I must do this or I'll lose my mind mode. "Nah, I'll go easy on them! OK? OK!" He ran off before Finn could say a word. Finn watched nervously, but his worry quickly turned to awe as Yamcha defeated the thugs effortlessly. There were five thugs in total. Yamcha kicked one in the back and sent him flying. "Here!" Two thugs ran towards him. He stepped back and slammed their heads together. "Here!" Another thug attempted to punch him, but before the thug got within a foot of Yamcha, he threw a punch at the thug and sent him flying. The final thug ran towards Yamcha, who had had his eyes closed the entire time. The thug shouted in some strange language, and he threw a punch, but Yamcha simply ducked out of the way and punched him in the stomach lightly. The thug fell over, groaning. "Here!" Yamcha said gleefully one last time. He giggled like a madman, but then he calmed down and looked over at the girl and the droid, who were both apparently stunned.

Don't get nervous. Don't get nervous. Don't get nervous. Yamcha repeated over and over in his head. He started off the classic way: "Uh, hi." The girl blinked. "Who are you?" Yamcha grinned nervously. "I'm Yamcha." The girl nodded. "I'm Rey." Finn ran up to Yamcha's side, laughing. "That was great! How did you do that?" Yamcha winked. "A true magician never reveals his secrets." Finn rolled his eyes, then turned to the girl- Rey, she had said her name was. "Um, that droid-" Suddenly, he was hit by an electric shock. "Ow!" He looked down next to his leg. The droid zapped him again. "Ow! Hey, stop it!" He looked back up to see the girl holding her staff at his chest. "That jacket- the droid says you stole it! It belongs to his master." Finn frowned sadly. "It belonged to Poe Dameron, right?" Yamcha cut in: "Poe and I were captured by the- the First Order. Finn helped us escape, but Poe..." "Poe didn't make it." Finn finished. The droid beeped sadly. Rey narrowed her eyes. "You're with the Resistance, then?" Finn gave her a blank stare, then blinked and grinned. "Obviously. I'm with the Resistance, yeah. I am with the Resistance." Yamcha raised a hand, but Finn shot him a look that said help me out here. Yamcha nodded. "Yeah, Finn is with the Resistance." Rey turned towards him. "And you?" Yamcha sighed. "I'm just a guy who's trying to find his way." Rey's expression softened ever so slightly, as if she knew that feeling. She cleared her throat and turned towards Finn. "This droid, BB-8, he needs to get to the Resistance headquarters as fast as possible." Finn nodded. "Apparently he's got a map that leads to Luke Skywalker, and everyone's after it." Rey nodded again, when Yamcha piped up: "Guys? We've got company." Everyone followed his gaze and saw what he was looking at- a group of stormtroopers. Finn's eyes widened. "Oh, no." The stormtroopers noticed the group and began to run towards them, and Yamcha spoke first: "Run!" The gang turned and fled. They made it a good distance away from the troopers when suddenly green lasers rained down towards them. They dove out of the way, then looked up. Two First Order TIE Fighters were after them now. Rey led the others towards a few spaceships. "We need something that'll get us offworld!" Finn pointed at a ship that was covered by a large blanket. "What about that one?" "That one's garbage!" Rey shouted back. The ship they were running towards was blown to pieces, and Rey skidded to a halt and turned around. "The garbage'll do!" The four of them ran towards the blanket-covered ship and got inside.
