Chapter 6: Welcome To Takodana

As they entered Takodana, Rey looked at the planet's landscape in awe. She seemed to be on the verge of crying. "I didn't know there was this much green in the whole galaxy." The Falcon set down near a large castle, and the group walked down the ramp. Rey took in the whole view, and Yamcha smiled as he breathed in the fresh air. Then, he looked towards Rey. "You're not the only one who's lived in a desert." Rey turned. "You were a scavenger on your planet?" Yamcha laughed, shaking his head. "No, I was a bandit." 

Rey arched her eyebrows. "You? A bandit?" "Oh, yeah." Yamcha replied. "Sword, vehicles, weapons, everything." Han walked up and handed a blaster to Rey. "You might need this." Rey glanced down at the blaster, then looked up at Han. "I think I can handle myself." Han nodded. "Yeah. That's why I'm giving it to you." Rey picked up the gun, then studied it. "You know how to use it?" Han asked. "You pull the trigger." Rey replied. "Not quite. This one is a bit different- put a little more in, get a little more out." Han explained. Rey nodded and holstered the gun, then Han turned towards Yamcha, handing him a gun as well. Yamcha nodded and fingered the gun, then fiddled with it. He pulled the trigger, and a laser shot out. Yamcha quickly holstered the gun. "Dangerous." Han nodded. "Yeah. So I'm handing it over to you." 

They headed into the castle, and Yamcha's eyes widened as he went inside. It was pandemonium in the place, music blaring, people talking, the usual. Suddenly, a small alien with large goggles turned and shouted "Han Solo!" Immediately, the music and noise died. Han quietly muttered "Oh, boy." then spoke in a louder voice: "Hey, Maz!" Yamcha assumed that the alien was Maz Kanata, the person who Han claimed ran the place. The noise and music returned as Maz walked up to the group. "Where's my boyfriend?" Maz asked. "Chewie's working on the Falcon." Han replied. "That's one sweet Wookiee." Maz said, then turned towards Yamcha, Finn, Rey, and BB-8. "I'm sorry." "For what?" Yamcha, Rey, and Finn all asked at the same time. "About whatever mess he's gotten you into." Maz explained. She then gestured towards a table. "Come! Sit! We will eat. You can tell me your story while we dine." 

As they ate, Maz spoke: "A map to Skywalker himself? You're right back in the mess." she said to Han, who replied with: "Maz, I need you to get this droid to Leia." gesturing to BB-8 as he spoke. Maz shook her head. "No. You've been running from this fight for too long, Han. Go home!" Meanwhile, the two people who had been with Maz when she had took Yamcha and his friends to the table sat, looking uncomfortable. Maz noticed Yamcha looking at them and laughed. "Oh, right. I almost forgot." She faced the two teenagers. "Jason, Piper, these folks might be able to help you get back home." The boy nodded. "OK. Thank you, um..." "Maz." the girl finished. Maz nodded, and Yamcha faced the two teenagers. "I'm Yamcha." The boy nodded. "I'm Jason. This is Piper." He put an arm around the girl's shoulder, and Yamcha knew that they were boyfriend and girlfriend. The thought made him feel a little sad. As they talked, Finn revealed himself as a stormtrooper deserter and left, and Yamcha sighed. It was bound to happen sooner or later. Rey went after Finn. 

(A Few Minutes Later)

The group was outside when suddenly there was a massive rumbling sound. Yamcha whirled around and looked up at the sky to see a giant, red beam of light shooting across space. Yamcha could still use ki, so he trailed the beam and found it flying towards several planets- planets with lots of life. Yamcha's eyes widened as he felt the beam split into several smaller ones, which in turn destroyed all the planets. Yamcha fell to his knees. He had never felt death on such a massive scale. How many innocents had just died? Millions? Billions? Jason looked down at Yamcha. "Hey, you alright?" Yamcha shook his head. "I think an entire solar system just died." 

Jason's eyes widened, and he looked back up at the sky. "Was that red beam of light a laser or something?" "It was the Republic." Finn said gravely. "The First Order, they've destroyed it. Where's Rey?" Before anyone could answer, there was another loud sound- the whine of engines. Yamcha looked towards the source of the noise, and his heart sank- the engines were part of First Order ships. Maz led Han, Finn, Yamcha, Jason, and Piper back into the castle, then handed Finn a small cylinder, a bit similar to Kylo Ren's. The castle shook from heavy fire, and they ran back outside. The ships landed. Stormtroopers ran out. Some people fought, some ran, and some died. Yamcha clenched his teeth and drew his sword, watching as an alien was gunned down by several troopers. Jason pulled out a coin and flipped it, and when the coin landed in his hand, it was a lance. Piper unsheathed a small dagger and a sword made of... ice? Yamcha wasn't sure, but as soon as Piper threw it into a stormtrooper's chest, the trooper became a human popsicle. Piper retrieved the sword, and as the rest of the stormtroopers charged, Yamcha rushed forward to meet them.
