Final chapter of this book, yay! I had great fun writing these Christmas themed little stories - and surprisingly, I've even managed to publish most of them on time 😄. Hope you've enjoyed reading this book, thanks for all the votes and comments 🤗.
But now I am also looking forward to hopefully updating all my other open books during the remainder of my Christmas holidays.
This chapter takes place two years after the previous one, same storyline. Meet Abigail Sky Walker and Matthew Ray Smith 🙂. And Merry Christmas again!Christmas Day
Two years later
"Kai, Skylor, come in." Nya smiled at her brother and sister-in-law, as she opened the door. "Merry Christmas. Aww, Mattie's just too cute when he's asleep." She fondly eyed her 11-months nephew who was fast asleep on his mother's shoulder.
"Merry Christmas to you, Nya. Yes, he is - when he is asleep." Skylor sighed. "Seriously, the best way to get this child to sleep is to put him in his car seat and drive him around the city."
"It sometimes feels like it's the only way..." Her husband added. "And where's my favourite niece?"
"Kaiii-ore." At that moment, an excited squeal could be heard coming from the doorway behind Nya as a 19-months old girl with brown hair in two pigtail came toddling towards then. She was wearing blue tights and a white shirt with the words 'Who needs mistletoe when you're this cute?".
"Abby's your only niece." Nya remarked. "At least the only biological one."
"So far." Kai smirked.
"Shh, everyone's in the living room, you don't want to spoil the surprise. And I am sure it's a boy this time." Nya then addressed her brother's wife. "We're still both telling them today, right?"
Skylor nodded. "Yes. We've said we'd do it together. And I've got..."
The conversation was interrupted by a small *thud*. Abby had stumbled and taken a little fall onto the floor – luckily she had landed on her well padded bottom. She silently sat there for a moment, looking at the three grownups with her big blue eyes and obviously contemplating whether or not it would be a good time to cry.
But before she could reach her decision, her father - wearing a Kiss the Cook apron over his Christmassy clothes - appeared from the kitchen. Jay scooped her up in his arms and gently tickled her little stomach, making his daughter giggle – and immediately forget her little accident.
"Hi guys." He gave his guests a quick hug. "Merry Christmas."
"Merry Christmas, Jay. And to you, Abby." Skylor and Kai said back.
Hearing her name, the girl smiled and stretched her arms towards the red-haired woman.
"Why does my own sister's child like you better than me?" Kai pouted.
"Because I am her cool godmother who always brings her a present." Skylor planted a little kiss on his cheek, before she carefully passed the sleeping boy to her husband so she could take her niece.
"Pwesent." Abby repeated. "Twee." She pointed towards the living room.
"You want to show me your tree, Abs? I am sure Santa has brought you a lot of presents. And maybe auntie Skylor also has one for you..."
Abby nodded eagerly, clapping her small hands.
"Then, let's go." Skylor laughed, carrying the girl to the living room.
"Why don't you go with them? Your and my parents are all waiting for you." Jay suggested to his wife and brother-in-law. "I have to go back to the kitchen and check on the turkey."
