46. He's a vampire (pt. 2)

Your POV

The next day at school was awkward. I couldn't look at Shawn. Every bone in my body was screaming for me to look at him, but I just couldn't. My thoughts were completely clouded - all I could think about was his fangs sinking into the flesh of a human. How could he be such a monster?

I was snapped out of my thoughts by the bell ringing; I quickly threw my books and got up, glancing over my shoulder to see Shawn staring at me with longing eyes. I quickly looked away, dashing out of the classroom, Shawn running after me.

"Y/N, wait!" he calls after me, but I just ignore him and continue to pace down the hallway. I feel his hand reach out and grab my shoulders, stopping me in place. I sigh and turn around, his eyes instantly meeting my own.

"what is it, Shawn?" I start, "I told you to stay away from me." I bite my lip nervously, holding my arms around my body.

"Just let me explain, please," he begs, but I shake my head. "Please leave me alone, Shawn, it's for the best," I reply, pushing past him and walking out of the school.

Dear Diary,

Today has been hard. As much as I wanted to let Shawn back into my life, I just couldn't. It's becoming too much - my feelings for him, it's eating me alive. Everytime I look at him I see a glimpse of hope; maybe someday I will learn to understand him, but for now I must stay away, I think it's for the best.

I twiddle my pen as I close my journal, placing it onto the window ledge where I was sitting. I get up, throwing my hair into a ponytail as I make my way downstairs.

"Jenna, I'm going to the grill!" I call out, picking up my car keys and walking towards the door. I see Jenna's auburn hair peek out from the kitchen, a smug look on her face.

"I've got this," she says, placing her hands on her hips, "it's a school night, don't be out too late."
I laugh lightly, grabbing my coat. "You nailed it, Aunt Jenna."

I see her grin in triumph as she walks back into the kitchen, a small smile on my lips as I walk out the house.

I was driving down an empty highway when I noticed a black figure in the middle of the road. I gasp, hearing my tires screech as I stepped on the breaks in hopes of avoiding the man. In a spur of events, I could feel my car tip over, and roll over several times before it comes to a complete stop upside down.

I cry in pain as I watch the man slowly get up and begin walking towards my now damaged vehicle. I close my eyes, hearing the footsteps get louder with every second that passed.
This was it, this is how I was going to die. I didn't even get to tell Shawn how I really-

"Y/N?!" I hear someone yell. I open my eyes, quickly shutting them again as I felt the pain of a thousand knives on my abdomen.
"Shawn?!" I sob, and he immediately appears in front of me, a super worried look on his face.
"Oh baby girl, it's me," he breathes, "stay with me."

Shawn inspects the wreck, positioning his hands underneath the hood of the car.
"Okay Y/N, I need you to put your hands against the hood of the car," he says calmingly, to which I oblige.

"Ready?" I nod, and within three seconds, Shawn's vamp strength had removed the car off and away from me.
Almost immediately I fell into his arms. He quickly bit his wrist, shoving his blood into my mouth as my consciousness began lowering from the blood loss.

As I stared into Shawn's dark eyes, I could see the twinkle of relief as he watched my wounds begin to heal one by one.
"Don't ever scare me like that again," he says, caressing my cheek.

I smile weakly, bringing my hand to hold his. "Thank you," I whisper, "I love you."

Shawn looks at me, and smiles, "oh I love you too.. so much."

In that moment, I felt safe. I knew I could trust Shawn despite his vampirism. He put his trust in me, so I put mine in him.
