Y/n's P.O.V.
I opened my eyes slowly and there was complete darkness. It was musty and very humid in the room I was in. I tried to move, but found my arms and legs tied up to a chair. I heard a noise of a creaky door opening slowly and then closed. My heart skipped a beat as I tried to keep calm. "So... You're one of Star Butterfly's friends, huh?" A voice inquired, steps following the voice closely. Hands reached around to the back of my head and a blindfold I didn't even know I wore was removed from my eyes. I looked around, taking everything in. The roof was leaking, the floors were buried in an inch of water, and there was a single light hanging over me. Then a figure walked towards me, stopping outside of the pure light and continued to speak, "If you are one of Star Butterfly's friends, speak."I cleared my throat and said, "And what's it to you?"
They hummed, "If you aren't going to cooperate, then we can end this quickly." They began to step closer.
I quickly shouted, "Fine! Yes! I am one of Star's friends! Why do you want to know?!"
They chuckled a bit and said, "Not important. I'm going to ask you a few questions and you will answer honestly otherwise there will be more problems."
"I get some answers too then. I'm not going to answer if I don't get some answers." I glared at the figure, awaiting their decision.
A hum of approval came and then an immediate question, "Where is Star Butterfly?"
I responded, "I have no idea at this very second. Who are you?"
The figure stepped into the light, slowly and dramatically. It was a lizard man in a very neat and tailored suit. He gave a disturbing smirk and said, "My name is Toffee."
I widened my eyes in shock and confusion, "What...?"
Flash Back...
I was walking home from school and mumbling about the bad day I had. "Being 13 sucks..." I was halfway home when I heard an odd sound. It sounded like a warping noise from some sci-fi show. I looked around, trying to figure out where the noise was coming from. I couldn't see anything out of place or out of the ordinary so I continued walking to my house.
"I'm so excited to eat mom's meatloaf!" I turned the corner and saw my pretty house. The neighbors always gossiped on how beautiful it looked with the flowers blooming all year, and how the trees were only blanketed with snow. They said it was magic what my mom was able to do with our house. I always looked at the neighbors like they were crazy. I started jogging the rest of the way to the prettiest house on the street.
I opened the door, stepped in, and closed it. "Mom! I'm home!" All the lights were off, which was severely off since my mom loved the light, and she didn't respond as usual. "Mom?" I walked into the kitchen and it smelled terrible. I turned on the light and gasped at the sight before me. My mom was lying on the floor, breathing heavily with a puncture in her stomach, blood pouring out. "M-Mom?!" I ran to her and knelt down in her blood. I tried putting pressure against the wound to stop the bleeding, getting my hands bloodied in the process, but I needed some professional help. "Mom, I'm g-gonna call the ambulance!" She tried to speak, but I stopped her. "It's o-okay mom! Y-You're gonna be okay!"
The operator's voice rang in my ears. "Hello, what's your emergency?"
"M-My mom... She- uh- she's been s-stabbed. I-" I began to sob, realizing what had happened.
"Honey, please speak to me. We will send an ambulance and some police over. Tell me what happened."
"I w-walked in to g-greet my mom. It's s-supposed to be m-meatloaf night. I was so happy to have meatloaf t-tonight. I walked into the k-kitchen and she was- She was on the floor, b-bleeding out... Please help her."
"We will try our best, sweetie. Please stay on the line until the ambulance and the police arrive. Continue talking about your day. Keep your mind off of what happened."
I poured out everything to her for about ten minutes...
Time Skip...
It had been six hours since the incident. I was sitting out in the waiting room, waiting for the nurses to get a hold of any family members available. They were only able to contact one, Aunt Marie. She only lived about two hours away so she was the first one called. I sat on the cold bench, wrapped in a blanket to cover the blood up from patients and families seeing any. I shook a bit from panic and worry. I didn't want to think about what could happen if my mom didn't make it- Tears flooded from my eyes. I couldn't stop them and I had no one there to talk to about it to. "Y/n?! Honey, are you okay?!" I hear a worried and stressed voice yell to me. I look over to see my Aunt Marie and some guy, who Auntie was dating since she informed me after, rushing towards me.
"Marie...?" I whispered hoarsely from crying.
"Y/n! Talk to me! What happened?" Auntie Marie asked, holding onto my shoulders tightly.
I tried to speak, but my throat hurt, "I... Walked in and-"
Auntie sighed and hugged me, "You don't have to say anything right now. They told me your mom was awake. We should go see her."
I nodded and followed her to my mom's room. When I entered, the room felt dim and felt like light was dying slowly. I rushed over to Mom, who was breathing a bit heavily, and held her hand that was stretched out to me. I began crying again, "Mom... Please tell me you will be okay."
"I-I can't say that, s-sweetie..." Mom said, gripping my hand with all her strength.
I wanted to hug her and never let go, but she wouldn't feel much peace with all the pain. I kissed her hand and said, "I love you, Mom."
"I love you too, sweetie... Marie, you're here..." Mom said, finally acknowledging Auntie.
"Of course I'm here, M/n. I love you too much to let you do this alone." Auntie said, heading to the other side of the bed.
"I love you too, Marie... Can you do me a favor?" Mom asked, beginning to cough a bit.
"Anything." Marie immediately said, grabbing her other hand.
"Take care of Y/n for me...? She needs to be watched over with how much trouble she gets into..." Mom laughed a bit, tears falling down her pale cheeks.
Marie nodded and it looked like something flashed in Mom's eyes, "Y/n, I need to tell you a name..." She began to cough some more and her heart monitor began to beep more erratically. "The name... Of the person who hurt me... Is Toffee..." Then... An everlasting hum of death...
End Of Flash Back...
"You...?"
Toffee looked at me with a knowing look, "I... What?"
"You killed my mom..." I stated, emotions filling me to the brim. "You... Are the one who ruined my life...!"
He leaned over a bit so we were eye to eye, "Yes, I killed your mother. So I could get rid of one of the most powerful people in the universe."
I believed she was the most powerful because she was my mom, but joking around after killing her is not funny whatsoever, "What are you talking about, you overgrown lizard?!"
He started to speak again, "Your mother was a powerful woman... She used magic from all dimensions. She used magic to destroy evil everywhere it hid. So... I had a chance to destroy her and it worked."
I felt the ropes loosen slowly as I thought about Toffee killing my mother in cold blood on a meatloaf night. He started rambling on about his magic compared to my mother's while I slipped out of the ropes. They fell off and I instantly lurched for Toffee. He caught me with his magic and lifted me up, "Hm... I knew I sensed magic in use..."
I ignored him, "Who cares what was in use! I'm going to make you pay for what you did!"
He studied my very being, still holding me in the air with magic, and said, "We'll talk again when you can calm down." The magic he used to hold me became electric and I was shocked out of consciousness.
