we learned
that beauty is
aesthetically pleasingso we put up walls,
hiding who we were
with make up and hair dye,
wearing our assigned clothes,
kissing girls instead of boys
and boys instead of girlsa hierarchy was formed
in the form of a wall
dividing us all
and somehow
we lost sight of the fact;
real beauty is inside usit only takes one spark
to start a revolution
and that's all it took
now the streets are filled
with outpouring support
to break the "norm"so we can be free;
to love who we want
to dress how we want
to be who we want
to be who we are
regardless of skin colour or beliefs
and still be recognised
to have the beauty
that was inside us all along
