Emma’s POV
“Robert?”
My eyes widened.
I felt Robert’s hand tightening around my own.
His parents were right in front of us, equally surprised to see us there.
“What are you doing here?” His father coldly said
I caressed his hand encouragingly, but I could feel him trembling and his unsteady breath, so I spoke
“We are going to have some dinner” I half smiled
“Yeah, that’s what restaurants are for…” Robert let out, pushing me to walk
“You? You got out of your house?!” His father asked in a scaring tone
I frowned, I wasn’t liking the course of the conversation. I was about to intervene, but his mother was faster
“You look good, Robert” She said, softly. “But are you comfortable being in a place like this?”
“Oh, please” I said “Look, nice… seeing you. We are going to have our dinner now” I said, pulling a nervous Robert with me.
“I am sorry, lady and gentleman, but you cannot go inside unless you have a reservation”
I almost did not notice we were breaking inside the restaurant. I glanced at Robert who had his hand in his forehead
“Breathe, baby, it is alright” I whispered to him
“Sir?!” The waiter looked at us, with an odd expression
“Uhhh...” Robert said “Hunter…”
“Reservations under Hunter?” He raised his eyebrow “That was already used. They just left”
I sighed “Robert Hunter”
He searched throughout his list, slowly, showing a really arrogant expression
“I am sorry but the only reservations under Hunter I have here were already taken” He looked at us “Sorry” He said
“Oh, are you?” Robert snapped “I called and made my reservation!” He said
I caressed his hand “Calm down baby”
“I am sorry but I have none over here!” The guy said in a harsh tone “Now, you are…” He was interrupted by a loud fuss.
All of us looked at the man, a few feet away from us, who had dropped all the plates and cutlery he was carrying. My eyes widened, as if guessing what was getting into Robert’s mind as I saw the mess on the floor. Everything all over the place.
Robert was about to take a step forward, when I stopped him
“Let’s go home, baby”
He looked at me, his eyes pleading to let him go. He was so tense, I needed to get him to a relaxed place, and that restaurant was not one of those places, for sure.
“Come”
I dragged him out of that place and into the car. Stealing the keys from his pocket, I pushed him to the passenger’s seat.
He stopped me before I could start the engine, though.
I looked at him, his eyes were killing me.
“I… I really did make reservations” he whispered
“Oh, Robbie” I hugged him the best I could. But he quickly pushed me into his lap, hugging me even tighter
“I know you did… that guy was an asshole” I caressed his hair
