She reached an area of the ballroom that was desolate, the concentration of people much less than the rest. It was probably due to the fact that, as people tend to do, they were running away from the massive creature snarling at them from near one of the wooden pillars.

The giant beast drooled on to the ground, frightening the victims around it. Most were running, but some, were paralyzed in fear.

At that moment, every instinct Synthia had ever felt in her life was urging her to leave, run in the opposite direction and save her own ass. And as much as she wanted to, some new force inside of her told her otherwise, a newly found will and courage was telling her to fight for the people who could not do so for themselves. And as that foreign power took over Synthia could feel how strength and agility beyond anything she had ever had before began to run through her body. Her legs kicked into action without her acknowledging it, running towards the beast's hind legs while quickly assessing her opponent.

As she analyzed the creature's movement she realized that, even though it seemed impossible, she was facing a grey wolf of almost twice her size. The beast had strong hind legs that bent with impulse as it jumped from place to place, snarling and snapping its gigantic jaws to frighten the humans around it. Synthia circled it, bending her knees and moving in a stealthy position. Nevertheless, the wolf sniffed her out. The grey beast quickly spun and flashed it's giants canine fangs at her, dripping saliva on the floor. Its eyes were bright green and were sizing Synthia with undoubtable bloodlust.

Arteries all around her body thrummed with strength, her legs ached with unused power and potential. She felt instincts and knowledge pushing on the back of her mind, thoughts that she had never had before merging with her own. Soon, she felt like she was a different, better version of herself.

The wolf bent its hind legs and prepared to jump towards her. Synthia's legs kicked into action. Right when the wolf leaped she rolled sideways, making it just in time to watch as the beast's giant jaws snapped at the space where she had been just seconds ago.

The beast looked around in confusion, as if wondering why he wasn't tasting her in its mouth right now.

A guttural growl came from the wolf's chest, echoing through Synthia's bones. Her hands contracted into fists and clenched, readying for battle. That's when she noticed that her bracelet, the one her biological parents had left for her at the orphanage, was pulsing at her right arm, sending waves up to her shoulders.

She quickly assessed the accessory, her eyes wandering loosely over its shape. The bracelet had the shape of a silver vine curling in a helix up and around her right arm, starting at the edge of her wrist and ending midway through her forearm.

It's important to note that Synthia had no idea why, or even what she was doing, but she clenched her right fist even harder than before and focused on her silver bracelet. She pictured the bracelet, analyzing it in her mind. Suddenly, without opening her eyes, she could feel the silver vine getting looser, untightening from its grip. She opened her eyes and gaped as she watched the silver metal unfold from her arm until the once solid helix was now a flexible vine, expanding at an impossible speed. The bracelet was getting longer, extending almost four meters long.

Well this is useful, she thought, now I have something else to worry about tripping over.

The green eyes of the creature shone even brighter as it realized, along with Synthia, that she was trapped between the marble fountain and her attacker.

"Fuck," she cursed.

The beast picked up speed and leaped through the air, its claws pointing at her face. In a matter of milliseconds that presence in the back of her mind told her what she needed to do.
