apart from the daily unspoken favors they do for each other, hoseok and yoongi don't normally talk, so hoseok was surprised when he opened the door to see yoongi, fist poised to knock but is stopped halfway, one fine saturday afternoon.

hoseok staggers back, one hand reaching for his heart. "fuck, you scared me there."

yoongi only stares at him, unbothered. "i want boba tea."

hoseok blinks back, not fully comprehending the situation. boba tea? is he asking hoseok to make him boba tea? or...

oh. yoongi's new to the town. he needs some directions.

"well," hoseok starts off, unsure. "i know where to get those and it's not that far from here. want me to lead you there? maybe we can walk."

yoongi points to something resting against hoseok fence. it's a soft yellow vintage bike. hoseok thinks it's cute.

"you have to catch up," yoongi says. hoseok smirks at this.

"wait a sec. i'll be right back."

hoseok emerges out the door with his bright red penny board tucked under his arm. "ready to go?"

the boy doesn't give a verbal response – only nods and hops on to his bike.

yoongi, hoseok thinks, isn't much of a talker. he pedals in silence while hoseok hums to himself. every now and then, hoseok would risk taking glances at the other, which turn into watchful stares. yoongi's side profile, the subtle bump on his jawline, the way the wind caresses his cheeks and blows his silver hair back ... hoseok knows an attractive guy when he sees one.

"thank you," yoongi speaks up, breaking hoseok from his trance.

"thank you?" hoseok asks, confused. "for what?"

"i love macarons," the boy says simply, smiling but still keeping his eyes ahead.

hoseok laughs. yoongi is cute. "of course. anything for the savior of my plants. the green jesus. gresus."

yoongi cracks a gummy grin at that, which turns into full-blown chuckles. "stop," he wheezes. "you're making me lose my balance. besides, i just did what any other decent person would do."

"oh, i wouldn't think that, yoongi. i've been living here for years and no neighbour has ever watered my dying plants. or left strawberry milk by my doorstep which, i must say, is slowly becoming my favourite."

"as long as you give me macarons, you can count on it every day."

hen they reach the boba tea place, yoongi insists that he will pay for both their drinks. hoseok declines at first, but the persistence of a min is unparalleled.

hoseok finds out that yoongi likes wintermelon boba tea the best. he swears the boy's eyes sparkled when he's handed the drink, reaching for it with two hands and gingerly taking a sip. he also finds out that he was wrong when he said yoongi wasn't a talker. Maybe he and yoongi unlocked a new level of friendship in a span of an hour. the boy talked of his old hometown, daegu, as if it's something close to his heart. hoseok takes note of yoongi's lisps which he tries so hard to hide by speaking in a pouting manner, and the way his daegu accent seeps through his words.

he also finds out that he can't stop staring at yoongi's lips shiny with milk tea. can't draw his eyes away from yoongi's mouth when he chews on his straw. can't stop thinking about wanting to talk more with yoongi even when he gets home.
