Chapter 十一
Mysterious Shop

I was in my office, seated at my desk writing a letter to Asato about how I was doing and asking him how he was. This week's report was finished and settled in a neat pile at the front corner of my desk, waiting to be folded and mailed off. I was so focused on writing my letter that I hadn't heard knocking at the door nor had I noticed when two people walked in. It took one of the two faces to clear their throat to finally catch my attention.

My head snapped up in surprise and my mismatched eyes paused at the silver and blonde haired boys standing at the foot of my desk. Zero jabbed his thumb at the blonde beside him, Takuma, with a face that just proved the level of annoyed he was at, "He was knocking like the world was ending, it was annoying and the stupid fangirls wouldn't shut up." Zero grumbled before taking his leave in his usual grumpy manner. I chuckled at this, such a grumpy little lamb.

I turned my attention to Takuma with my usual smile, though it was a bit more shy than what I show other people. For some odd reason I gradually began to feel more and more shy around him as the days went by, not sure when it had all started however. "Did you need something, Taka?" I wrote out and held up for him to read.

The kind vampire smiled at the shortening of his name and nodded his head. "Yes, this is a submission report about the last order on dealing away with Level E's who now have gone beyond hope." I gently took the paper he held out for me and skimped over it before filing it away for later.

I looked back to Taka to see him rocking on his feet with a nervous look on his face. "Also... there's a..um... well it's my birthday tomorrow and I was thinking of throwing a party. I was hoping you'd come?" He gave me a dazzling smile that still somehow portrayed how bashful he was feeling.

I smiled just as brightly back and nodded my head to show that I was more than happy to go. I wonder what I should get him as a gift...

After Taka had left to go about his day, I rushed through my paperwork to finish for the day early so that I could go out into the town to look for a gift. The headmaster gave me the okay, trusting me to make it make it back by curfew.

The joy of being free from my work left me feeling jittery and added a hop to my step. Going from shop to shop, having a few pit-stops at a café or two, I had found myself at the edge of the town that surrounded the academy. An antique shop that was old and in shambles nearly, but somehow still looked to stand strong. Maybe I'll find something in there...

Carefully, I pushed open the door and walked in as the ringing chime of a bell hanging above followed after me. The shop was void of dust, the shelves lined with trinkets and books were clean and polished, table tops shined like reflective mirrors. Why does this place feel so lonely... this ach I feel isn't from the building itself... but where is it coming from? I wandered around till I came across a small box with a pin inside of it.

"Are girls still into that kind of stuff?" The ringing of a deep voice startled me, causing me to jerk up and whip around on my heel. "Woah there. My bad, didn't mean to scar you."

A tall male was leaning against one of the shelves, arms crossed and a toothpick hanging from his lips as he chewed on the end. "Who are you?" I wrote out my question and held out my notebook for him to see.

His hair was a midnight blue colour, with white bangs covering his left eye, his bright blue visible eye thirdly staring at my notebook. "I guess you could say... I'm watching over the shop for the old hag."

"Um... well then... I'm looking for a gift for a friend... it... it's his birthday so... can you help me find a gift?"

I started to turn my notebook around to ask him if there was anything on my face, but I was stopped by him pushing off the wall with an 'oof' escaping his lips. He walked over to the counter and reached over it before pulling up a sheathed katana from under the redwood countertop. "Here," he thrusted out his arm and held out the long sword to me, "on the house, since you're the same as her."

I took the katana from him with hesitance, wondering as to what he was talking about. I looked down at the well crafted sword, pulling it slightly out of its protective covering to examine its craftsmanship, but when I brought my gaze back up the man was gone. Where he stood was now void of presence, and the proof of him ever existing was a note on the counter. A toothpick pinning it to the well-worn wood.

Beware of the Vampire Knight's curse, for I am one who was entangled in its pain.

Author's Note

Hey guys! It's been a while! Again... I'm sorry.
My University is on strike, which is annoying seeing how I paid to learn and not to have my TA's strike and NOT give us a refund.
Anyways, other than that life's been busy and all (can I quit being an adult now TT_TT ) and so I'm still not able to write much, or be on Wattpad in general.

Who do you all think the man was? (Hint: Readers of my first VK fanfiction should know^^)

What do you guys think the "Curse of the Vampire's Knight" is?

How have you all been?
Is winter still hanging on tight like it is where I am?

Anyways, enough of my being nosy, hope you all enjoyed the story!
